Sway bar support clamps
Sway bar support clamps
Powerflex just came out with a nice product
https://www.powerflex.co.uk/product-...0mm/14988.html
for whatever reason the US site is "down" right now but you can see them there. The front stock fd sway bar has something like this on it. not something most would have the need for as this gets into the hardcore suspension tuning realm but it looks cool. from what i can see, the stock fd sway bar fits in the 28-30mm clamp option. we're really into simple solutions like this so just figured it was worth a share

These have been around for a while.
I suppose it effectively makes the bar softer?
In the case of the FD, it's probably more important to make sure your mounting brackets aren't broken / flexing.

I've used these mcmaster car 2 piece collars before when the USDM bars rubber clamped bushings no longer cut it. The later JDM front bars got rid of the rubber and use straight clamped collars. Only difference in the powerflex collars is the choice of aluminum, 6082 T6.

This is the first time I've heard about swaybar clamps. Besides installing them to see if the car feels different, is there a way to predict if they might be helpful?
The stock swaybar mounts from my car bent, and I replaced them with upgraded ones from Mazdaspeed. This was around 2006, and I also replaced the front swaybar with a Racing Beat solid swaybar and Tripoint adjustable endlinks. That did seem to help improve the balance of the car, it tended to oversteer more than I prefer at autocross events with the stock front swaybar. The rest of the suspension is stock, including springs and shocks and rear swaybar.

it should make the bar more immediately effective, but it’s not unusual for a slightly stiffer front bar to induce oversteer by limiting front roll to increase tire contact patch grip more than the outer tire loading increase. Common mod in the Stock autocross class that allows changing only the front bar and not the rear.

I do have a Racing Beat front with a 93 rear. I removed the Racing Beat rear after it bent or developed "a twist" and didn't return to straight, they never responded when I contacted them about it but it is over 10 years old so w/e.
The front did rub the paint off as it shifts side to side so I added some generic clamps to hold it. I'm using stiff Widefoot billet mounts AND a RB brace to the subframe.
I thought bigger front bar reduced oversteer...
