Super Seven Safari

Im driving my FD from San Jose, Ca to Richmond, Va again! I drove it from richmond to san jose in january and now Im making the return trip to go back to college. Its going to be fun. It made the trip very wel the first time and I expect no less this time. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for routes and stops along the way. So far it looks like Ill take 80->70->64. Any suggestions are welcome. In january my friend and I completed the cross country in 51 straight hours. We ate at white castle and saw the worlds largest ball of twine. Id like to take a bit longer this time as Ill be solo and sleepy at points.

Wish Jasmine and I luck!
Dave

Damn thats a long trip. And people say FDs arent reliable he he. The farthest ive ever taken the FD was from LA Ca to Houston Texas in the middle of summer with no problems. Just make sure you get plenty of rest in between drives and bring lots of water. Good luck and have fun man.

Have travelled between NJ and TX about 6 times. Car always ran like a champ---20+ mpg and spanking c5s and m3s along the way

Done. I left 2am on friday morning and arrived nowish. I drove 1070 miles on day 1, 1020 miles on day 2, and about 750 today. My feed headlight cover flew off somewhere between oklahoma and texas. I got a speeding ticket in texas(86 in 70). My drivers side headlight motor gave out in tenessee(sp?), and my Y pipe coupler suffered a catastrophic failure about 200 miles from the finish line. It exploded and I thought I had blown my motor but it idles fine. Some flashlighting later and I found I had split the couple in half.

I got about 23mpg. This is the second time ive driven the 7 across country with no major mishap. Anyone who doubts the reliability of the 7 isnt maintaining it very well or has a shitty rebuild. That is all.

congrads on your second x-country trip. i did sacramento to fairfax, va in about 50 or so hours, no probs at all and averaging more than 22 mpg. id never do it again though, at least not in the 7. after more than 2 hours in the drivers seat my legs started to get stiff and my knees got sore.

At that point I was missing the screw clip behind the turn signal. It has since been fixed.

And, thankyou all
