super fast irradic boost?

well when i was driving to the local mexican joint tonight i noticed a strange, very slight vibration. when i looked at all my gauges i noticed that my boost gauge was acting strange. the needle was moving super fast back and forth but just a pound, from say 10-11 really fast. does this make sense, it was just realy jumpy when i gave it gas and it got into boost it would be realy shaky. has anyone ever heard of it doing this, any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks for all the help, scott
p.s. mods are intake,dp,highflowcat, cat back, ecu. thanks

ok, today when i drove it i noticed that the BOV makes a real fast releasing of air. it is doing the same thing the gauge is doing just pulsating air out really quick, i have the stock BOV just unhooked from the intake so thats how i could hear it. it doesnt do it all the time either, just everyonce in a while. say i will be in 4th gear going 44mph and give it a little gas and *** it builds boost it jsut shakes back and forth very quickly. thanks for all the help, scott

Thumbs up

Check the two hoses connected to the vacuum chamber. One might haved popped loose. If not it might be a different vacuum hose or a slight crack in one of your boost hoses.

You more than likely have a boost leak. Either from a vacume line or intercooler connection.

well after investigation, i could find no vacume lines off or any craked ones. i was wondering if maybe it could be my BOV not letting it hold pressure because if its doing it i can downshift and give it gas and it stops, like the valve released but when i gave it gas this time it closed, strange, i will keep checking for vacume leaks though, thanks for the help, scott

well, i havnt solved this case yet, all the vacume lines seem to be fine. i believe it has to do with the waste gate control somehow, maybe it has gone bad or the solonoid is doing funny, any ideas? thanks, scott

check your vacuum solenoids, especially the throttle related solenoids....one of mine cracked and it had a similar effect. They are located right below the front part of the upper intake manifold. (Behind the alternator I think) hope that helps a lil. a new solenoid costs about 35 bucks and takes about 1 hour to install becuase u have to pull the alternator.
