super chip

I was checking out racing chips made by jet chip the other day and it said that it would give you about 30 more horsepower by adding 3-5 psi to your boost. i was wondering how it would do this because i talked to a mechanic about getting a new turbo and he said that they were fed by your exhaust. so how would your ecu computer give you more boost

i would highly reccomend that you NOT get a chip from Jet or Superchips or anything like that. instead, get your ECU remapped from a known rotary tuner like Pettit, M2..etc. or go standalone.

adding "3 to 5" PSI of boost does not seem like a very good idea. lets say you have the performance basics: intake and exhaust. youll be running about 11ish pounds of boost. add "3 to 5" PSI and you are just asking for trouble. 14 to 16 pounds of boost + the stock IC and/or stock fuel system = blown engine.

turbos spin by exhaust gasses, and the boost is controlled by somehting called the wastegate. the ECU controls the wastegate.

get an ECU from a known tuner, or dont get one at all.

When I bought my car one of the previous owners had installed one of these type chips. BIG MISTAKE!!! They up boost by changing settings on the wastegate (which controls the amount of exhaust to the turbos since you don't seem to know) and they up the timing too. Problem is they don't adjust fuel levels so you run lean. They also aren't normally made for modified cars, only stock strangely enough. The pea brain that owned my car upgraded things like exhaust along with the super stupid chip and blew an engine.
