i am confused, R/T and E/T

ok, i just went for the first time to the drag strip on 1/8.

i was reading post and people keep saying a good R/T isn't important, how come?

how do they tell the ET then?

please explain to me how this works.

shouldn't a better RT give me a better time at the end?

thanks a lot

The ET timers do not start until you move out of the staging lights. A good R/T is important when you are in competition, but when you're just trying to get a good ET, you can sit there for 4 or 5 seconds before you leave and still run a good ET.

R/T is the most important thing during competition and yes, the clock won't start until you move and trip the lights.

So what did you run?

yeah what they said. just think of it as a sensor waiting for you to move and after you do the clock starts moving. a better reaction time is only important when you are competing with someone. otherwise it isnt important.

9.23 on your 1/8 is roughly a 14.2 quarter mile run.....
