The summer project has begun!!

Well the last month i have been getting myself ready for this and i just started last night. To make a long story real short about a month and a half ago a drunk driver did a hit and run on my car. I almost broke down in tears cause he F**ked it up pretty good. Smashed in my front drivers fender, crakced the wheel, trashed the front bumper and then did one hell of a number on my rear drivers quarter panel. I got some of the new parts already even though i shouldnt be needing them for another month or so. Im using this time to pull the motor out and rebuild it since its gettin close to 80,000 and i figure since my car is already down this would prolly be the best time. Im getting the entire car repainted a different color which means im gonna have to strip about a good 90% of the car so everything will be painted. Thats the other advantage of pullin the motor out now so i can get the engine bay to match the rest of the car. The only two things that i am having someone else do is paint the car of course and replace the drivers side quarter panel cuase i dont even want to make an attempt on that. I started last night with takin the front bumper and fenders off and a got a couple other small things done but this is gonna be a nice long process. I took my before pics last night and im gonna setup a website to host the pics so you guys can see the process of takin a wrecked FD into a beautiful car. Im just gonna keep using this thread to keep you guys updated and if i have any questions so just check back in every now and then, wish me luck!

Good luck! It's great that you are keeping yet another FD from being totalled and parted out.

Sorry to hear about what that bastard did to you, I hope he gets his. Good luck with your summer project, I'll be doing some similar stuff, though not to the same extent. Josh

Um, the link to photos didn't work, something about not being the owner of the album and not being logged in.

That doesnt seem so bad man. With the way you were describing it you would think that the rear quarter panel was completely crushed. It seems like a good body shop could just pull that dent out and re-finish it. Are you sure that you need an entirely new rear quarter panel?

yea but if i showed you the side view of it you can see at the bottom going all the way up that its all smashed in. that picture is kinda far away and you cant see it too well. and theres also a cut in the panel where it goes around the side around the taillight. trust me its a lot worse then you can see in that pic

yea, i was workin on it the last two nights. ive been workin on just getting all the interior out. i got a lot of it out already, the only things left is the dash, headliner, the carpet and a couple small things. the front bumper that i ordered is also finally coming today, cant wait to see it. yea if your still up you can bring your car by sometime this weekend. i dont think it would take too long to do a downpipe, and then we could try to kill the rest of my interior

No problem, you should check with "turbojeff" as he seems to be the resident expert with Rx-7 body repair. As far as this weekend is concerned, just give me a call. I need to go to emissions on saturday so sunday would probably be the best day for working on our cars. If you get a chance you could PM me with your telephone # and I'll give you a call on saturday.
