sudden and strange change in idle

so... yesterday, completely out of the blue, when i started my car in the morning, it was idling at around 2000 rpm. after the second red light, when i came to a stop, it went back to idling normally. on the way home though... it got even stranger.

yes, when i started it and while leaving the "office complex" the idle was sitting high around 1800-2000 rpm. but after i got out on the road when i came to a stop, it would idle at 1100 and gradually drop down and set comfortably at 850 rpm. that's what it was doing this morning too.

i would think it was a leak somewhere if it didn't settle out on its own. wouldn't a leak keep it high the whole time? what's the deal here people? anyone have any ideas or is this just one more thing i need to take up with PFS if i ever get my car back in the shop for some work? i checked the oil, its fine, water level too. temps are fine when its running, it even running really smoothly... just idling weird. i dunno what to do. i would certainly appreciate some ideas.

my mods are:
Apex'i Power FC and commander
Apex'i Power Intake
Racing Beat dual tip cat-back
3" SS down pipe

everything else worth mentioning is stock (well, i have a set of Magnecore 8mm spark plug wires, but i don't see how that can be the issue) and this just started happening completely out of the blue like i said. its really weird. is it possible that i need to reset the computer and let it relearn the idle? if so, what is the process for doing that? everyone on here seems to have a different take on it from what i've searched.

Try something simple first - do the throttle pedal, throttle linkage and throttle shaft easily return all the way to the stop? Maybe something just needs lubrication.

as far as i could tell this morning (not a whole lot of light to work with) everything "seemed" like it was going back to rest. that was my first thought though too. perhpas i'll just do a bit of a precautionary lube-job on the linkage at the TB.

It doesn't need very much of a hang-up to raise the idle a bunch - even a few 1/1000 of an inch could do what you're describing.

When I did my hose job, I pulled off my throttle cable from its bracket after marking the jamb nut and the threaded cable body. When I put it back together, I was apparently off by 1 turn, but it looked like it was closing correctly. However, the idle was all over the place, depending on how I let the pedal/cable return. When I backed it off the 1 turn, it went back to normal. So even though I couldn't see that it was hanging up at all, it affected the idle.
