Stupid minature battery question

I bought the deka ETX14. Its the same as the braille, just a lot cheaper. it looks VERY small, and im not sure how long it will work, lol. But i havnt installed it yet. It has some other type of terminals, i think theyre for a motorcycle. Has anyone used this, or know what i need to use it?

I'd just fabricate or find some adapter that allows you to contact with the battery... Shouldn't be too hard to do...

Are those just tabs that are attached to the battery posts? Maybe try to pry them off.

Good luck with 200 cca the odissy is 380 cca and will let you down some times. And there is a horizontal set screw that will remove the terminal leaving a standard place to connect battery cable.

It depends on you car's electrical system, but a 200 CCA battery may not start your car if it sits for more than a day or two.

yeah. im kinda thinking the same thing given its size. But i did see an excellent review of this battery. and it consistently churned out closee to 400cca. so apparently its underated.

set screw huh.... thank you!

ill report back as i use it for a while, if and how long it lasts.

The battery is rated at 200CCA because it will only supply over 10.5 volts (manufacturer-specific, but usually 10.5 volts) for 30 seconds. The battery will deliver 400CCA but for a FAR shorter time.

The important issue is how long will it hold the CCAs. Lets say you only get 400 CCA for 2 seconds, if your car doesn't start on the first turn, you're screwed. This isn't a try it again and get 12 volts either. Every time you turn the key the load from turning the starter/motor will drop the voltage farther and farther as the battery needs time to recover.

Your car will be lucky to start below 11 volts.

i use the odysee PC680 battery and have no problems at all. It actually arced out once on the tray ive fabbed up and melted a hole in 1mm thick T304 stainless!

Mine has dodgy terminals like that. I just used a large heavy duty ring connector, i can take photos if you like? Pm or email me as i dont check here too often, carl.newton@logicalis.com

well, i ghetto fabed up some temporary connections from ace hardware, and hooked it up. I mainly just wanted to see if it would actually start the car! lol

it lives! it started up no problem. maybe BARELY longer than normal, but the car hadnt been started in about a week anyway. i let it warm up for a few minutes, then turned it back off. waited a minute, started it again! so far so good.

its not securd enough to drive at the moment, so im going to take the DD to buy some jumper cables. ill get it secured, hopefully tomorrow and see how it goes.

well, i got it hooked up pretty good. could be better, but it doesnt move at all,and this will have to do for now.

it has started the car anytime i asked it too for about 2 weeks, including with it sitting for 3 or 4 days in between.

im happy so far. i guess ill just see how it goes from here.

i really need to get the original terminal off, and connect it correctly!

and here it is with the whole engine bay, just to show how small it really is.
