What are you currently using?

People have had luck with the following:

* Impact gun. Using tigtening first to help break the locktite loose, then going reverse
* Large breaker bar
* Using a blow torch to heat it up

i hope this works. we thought of heating it but were afraid it may damage componets internally.

I've personally never needed to heat one up to get it off, but I've heard it done quite often. I larger breaker bar is typically what I end up using. My current impact only has about 450 ft/lbs of torque and it rarely does much damage to that bolt.

I loaded the shortblock up in my SUV and drove it to a tire shop that does big truck tires.

The guy hit it with a 1" impact and it was off in about a second.

This guy above made a tool like I did long ago ( and advertised here ). After you bolt the "holding" tool on you then take a 3/4" breaker bar with cheater and that E-bolt eases right out. I would NEVER apply heat to that bolt, although a lot of folks here do.

My wife held the holding tool while I broke the bolts loose. Done 4 of them this way and never a problem
