Streetporting questions?

Hey guys...

What is Street porting??? when people
rebuild their motors. with street porting..
What does it actually consist of???
Difference in Mild or extreme or regular
STreet port???

I have no clue. but I am assumming its
boring out the intake and exhaust manifolds.
Am I close???

I am sure one day i gonna need a rebuild.
when I do i just would like to be knowledgeable.

Thanks in advance

Street porting is enlarging the size and manipulating the shape of the intake and exhaust ports in the rotor housings and intermediate housings.

The term "street" is used because this level of porting is assumed to be appropriate for street use, as in it will keep a decent idle, and still have a similar powerband.

It has nothing to do with the manifolds, and Im not even gonna go into bridge or periphrial porting.

"Bridgeport
An extra port is added to a street port right up against the edge where the peripheral housing meets the side housing. There is not much point in making a radical port like this unless performance carbs and exhaust systems are installed. 70 to 90 HP can be added this way. This is a very popular port since durability of the engine is not greatly reduced. "

I was always under the impression that a bridge port DID remove some lonbgevity of the motor?

That and you have to idle engien at like 4k rpm

Street port basically makes intake start sooner and close later. it is same thing as putting a cam in.

It does only because you are now in the 11,000rpm powerband and it will idle at about 1500rpm like a radical cam V8.

Just look at the bridge itself. Does that look durable to you?
