Strange high-beam indicator issue

So i got this Strange high-beam indicator issue that hopefully you guys can help me figure out.

My high-beam indicator (the blue light on the dash) is on constantly when the headlight switch is turned to any position in either city lights/markers, or full on lights (lights flipping up) all my lights work and hi/low beam works on both headlights but even when i pull it in to switch to high beam the indicator stays on but it also stays on in low beam normal driving mode. what could be causing this?

Anybody got an idea of a possible crossed wire that would cause this? it has stock flip up's but had sleek fit non flip up's before. all lights function as they should but as soon as i flip the selector for DRL or full on lights the Blue high-beam indicator is on.

By far, I am not an electrical guru so take this for whatever it is worth. Your problem sounds like it involves the combination switch which is located at page Z4-3 for which the switch connector (X-04) is located at page E-8 on diagram E-1 in my 1994 Body Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. I would spray DeoxIT (Caig Laboratories DN5S-6N | Contact Cleaners) in the space between the rotating switch end of the stalk as well as the connector for the combination switch that is located under the steering column cover. My best guess is that there is corrosion inside the switch end of the stalk. If that does not work, then you might need a new combination switch. Here is my logic: You said the high beam light indicator (HBLI) on the dash lights up when you turn on the parking lights. Wiring diagram C-1b for the instrument cluster and warning lights (page C1-4) shows that there is nothing between the switch and the HBLI to test. Clearly you have continuity or the HBLI would not work. Tracing backwards from the HBLI, the diagram points back to the combination switch diagram E-1 item 57. That diagram is located on page E-7. Looks like there are two circuits that can make the HBLI go on: the flasher (pulling back on the stalk) and pushing the stalk forward to engage the high beam. That portion of the switch does not seem to be a problem. So, I am guessing there is corrosion (a/k/a “gerb”) that is somehow creating the same circuit as does pushing/pulling on the stalk. Of course, you can always disconnect the HBLI connector from bulb to bypass the HBLI altogether. Again, this is my take on your problem. I will see if I can get my electrical genius buddy Neil to pipe in on the topic.

FWIW, I concur with beckrx's analysis. However, the red wire with white stripe in the front harness that powers the HBLI and originates in the combination switch is common with the wires to the high beam filaments in the headlights, according to the schematic. Hard to see how the HBLI can be lit unless the high beam filaments in the headlights are also lit, even if there are crossed wires somewhere.

Are you sure that the headlights' high beams are not always lit when the HBLI is lit, even when on low beams or parking lights?

I'm having this problem too. I didn't notice/care before because I had dual projectors where one was wired in the low beam switch and the other was wired to my fog light switch. But now that I have the bixenon projector wired in properly, I'm noticing randomly that my highbeam will come on for no reason which causes the flapper to flip down on the projector. This coincides with the highbeam indicator light flickering on the dash.
