Strang over heating problems

hi guys
this started a few weeks ago ... about 3 weeks ago
when i was driving arround, out of nowhere the add coolant light and the buzzer goes off and the gauge temp started to raize up very fast, like i was very near to my house i put the car into the garage and leave it alone for the rest of the day ... the next day i went to the car and try to take off the air bubles i thought that i might have some so i take of the rad cap and the ast cap and put some water to the top... i just fill it up and i thought that the bubbles where gone so i started the car and drive arround for about 20 minutes and... it happend again the the add coolant and the temp started to go up again but i couldnt stop in there so i continue to drive the car and the temp was almost at the red and suddenly the add coolant buzzer shuts up the light went off and the temp goes to the middle of the gauge like nothing had ever happend... after that i went home because i didnt want to get the car to overhearted again and leave it alone for one week (i didnt have time to check it out) .. when i stopped the car the overflow tank was boiling like hell but i didnt have any leaks under the car and nothing was steaming...
so today i get some time to check it out and when i was into the car i put the key into the ignition and turn it
the add coolant **** started again ..... so i went to the engine and put some water into the rad neck again and the add coolant and the stupid buzzer shut up and i try to see if i had some white smoke and i didnt have any and the exhaust doesnt smells bad... i only drove the car for 5 minutes and the temp gauge was allready into the middle i dont know if that is normal but the car warm up really fast... (i think)
i leave the car for a few hours and when the car was coolder i started to try to find the thermostat... but i never could find it... after that i put some water again into the rad neck and into the overflow tank and went to try it out... and for 5 minutes the car was running great the temp right in the middle and no buzzer... sunddenly it happend once again the temp started to raize and the add coolant and the buzzer started..... so i stoped the car again and leave alone for about 10 minutes... after that everything seems ok... so i started the car and when i turn on the car the add coolant start it again but in the next second went off and the temp went really down... so i drive it home and when i stoped the car the stupid car started to do that once again... but i didnt have any white smoke or did smell bad but the overflow tank was boiling the water like hell again... i really dont know what to do... i just want to fix it... can anyone help me out ?
Sorry for the long post

To get to the thermostat, remove the filler neck.

To remove air bubbles, disconect filler neck and AST caps, then disconect the hose connected to the throttle body next to the firewall. and place it upwards. Fill AST first, then filler neck with engine warm (not hot) and at idle. Turn the heater on to circulate the water. If the bubbles never stop, then it's most likely o-ring failure. If the coolant goes up and down like waves in the filler neck then again, most likely it's o-ring failure. Eliminate leaks by checking hoses. Most common is the ones to turbo, then heater hoses, then radiator.

It is typical for cars with bad seals to exhibit the symptoms you describe. I would however, replace the thermostat before you do any sort of "major" repairs as this might remedy you problem. That being said, you more than likely destroyed your coolant seals during overheating.
