Hi! I am replacing my windshield but I'm not sure which tint color the car came with from factory? There is some options out there and the glass dealers can only see what's available, not what the car came with originally. The car is a PZ black 1993 R1.

Is there anyway to confirm what color glass your car came with based on the VIN? I've looked through multiple threads with people stating what the cars came with, but they don't all agree with each other.

 

The only person who I think might know about that is @j9fd3s . He seems to know everything mazda specs

 

the parts catalog doesn't list the colors, but
1993 gets FD01-63-900
1994 is FD15-63-900
and 1995 is FD31-63-900 in the US and Japan is F123-63-900 up to 4/1995, and then it gets F124-63-900
1996-2002 is F132-63-900A

all of these look available in Japan, but the only one available in the US is the FD15

i think the FD01 glass is one color, and the FD15/F123/F132 is the other color, however it does not say what color that might be

 

FYI, Ray Crowe can look up what glass tint your car came with from the last four digits of the VIN.

Mine was bronze with blue shade, but the window was replaced and I know I selected blue/blue from the options not having this info. Same with the passenger window that broke years. And I at some point replaced the hatch from a wiperless base model, so conceivably none of the windows matched, and I never noticed.

 

My Montego Blue Touring also came with bronze tint, but it was impossible to find and I settled for gray. Windshields are tough to find.
