Montego R1?

I just bought what I believe to be an R1 package Montego 1993 Rx7. Could this been factory installed after the new car purchase? The color is original and all parts are there.....

The R1 was not offered in Montego Blue, so if you are looking for authenticity from a collector standpoint then, no, you do not have an authentic R1. That said, it is certainly possible to modify a touring RX-7 to have the suspension and components of an R1.

he's right, if its MB, its not an R1. If you've got all the R1 parts though, does it really matter if it came like that? you're going to mod it anyways ( almost everyone does, even when they say they won't)

however,

According to this site, an R1 COULD be ordered with a sunroof etc. if the buyer was willing to wait. If true, I suppose it's possible that order option extended to color as well. But IMO, unlikely.
