Stock Twin inlet flange pic

I've heard of cracking before but this is way beyond that! 80k miles on it. I've seen other inlet flange pics with 100k miles that looked a hell of a lot better than this. Anyone have an explanation why mine got this bad? Running too lean maybe? Too hot? I did over heat the motor a few times and eventually blew a seal. I discovered this when I tore the motor down. Could overheating have caused this or is this long term degradation?

Not too different from mine. 104K miles by the previous owner.
