Stock BOV Question

What problems will it cause if I don't reconnect the BOVs back to the airbox and just leave them open under the bonnet? One of my hose going from the rear BOV to the airbox is cracked and before I spend $35 for a new one, what would happen if I just removed the cracked hose?

Your BOV would be much louder thats the first thing you will notice. Alot of people vent their stock bov to the atmosphere for the added sound. It may shoot a little oil out of it and get things a little dirty but thats about the only recourse to not running it to the airbox. Dont spend no $35 on a hose anyways.

What if I put a small crankcase filters on the outlet of the BOV? Would that take care of the oil mist or would that restrict the air flow too much?
As for the holes in the airbox, I could just use some table leg caps from Lowes or something similar to cover them.

Best plug I've seen and used is a 16oz. arrowhead drinking water bottle cap. It press-fits tightly over the airbox hole. Just for giggles, what kind of cute things can be done to alter that noisy stock BOV "pssshhtt""? I don't mean a party favor, but I heard of some coat-hanger mod or something? I'd like a HKS/GREDDY chattering whistle without blowing 300 bucks and replumbing the intake/intercooler lines. At least experiment just for ***** and giggles.

The cheap factor is cool, but it's a hack job, and I just can't do it... it's fairly load without having anything in the hose. I laughed so hard when that one guy on that bov thread said to put a rape whistle in the hose... That shut a few guys up I bet... Did your stock BOV bypass air at idle? Mine does, just curious if that is correct operation or not.....
