Still no joy. Help really needed! Not looking Good!

Ok guys, really need your help on this one now.

I've had my car from Japan for over a week now and still no luck getting it started. It was driveable in Japan but had to be towed off the boat. I have tried the following:

1.) New battery
2.) Oil & filter change
3.) Removed old plugs, cranked the engine with the fuel pump relay pulled for a couple of days.
4.) Replaced with new plugs

....still nothing, car is cranking and making the whiring sound but will just not fire.

Any ideas??.... Anybody??.... Im rapidly loosing faith!

Cheers

Kevin.

You did not mentioned if it has spark or if it was really flodded.

Fuel and spark are always the first test.

How about draining the fuel and flushing the system. Maybe a ship idiot put something in the tank.

The plugs where orignally really gunked up when I took them out, so thats why i thought it was flooded. I have tried to get as much of the crap out by cranking with the plugs out, but I thought it would do more damage than good if I continuted on.

I was thinking about the fueling next. I pressume the pump/fuel could of got contaminated if travelling over by the sea? So what should I check for next?

Fuel pressure?
Fuel pump?..... How do I check this? Is it an easy job to replace? Average cost?

Sorry for all the questions.

Search for "flooding" or "flooded". There are some good techniques to de-flood an FD engine, and they require more than just cranking with the plugs out.

Dave is correct start by reading and doing a good unflooding procedure (maybe injecting a little oil in the spark plug holes and manually canking the engine),,, u said you was cranking and it was makeing a whirring sound??? give me a little more detail on this (when the plugs where out and u cranked the engine did you hear nice strong pulses of air from both rotor housings??~)

Yep, if you crank it with the plugs out and stuff (gas) comes out, you need to keep cranking until it's *all* gone. Then put in a new set of plugs and try cranking again. (Don't buy the platinum plugs for this job)

When I was cranking the engine with no plugs i could see like steam etc coming from the engine and it splattered the side of the engine bay with a light coating of black oily crap etc.

I've just got normal NGK plugs for it:

BUR9EQP for the two upper chambers and
BUR7EQP for the lower chambers.

I've read all the information and searched for everything to do with flooding but cant find anything more than cranking with the plugs out? I've got some Motul gearbox oil would that be any good for injecting into the spark plug wells? Its just the bottom two you put the oil into isnt it?

Here's the procedure in a rather long, but step by step approach.

1. Be sure battery is fully charged.
2. Remove bottom two plugs.
3. Remove fuse from the fuel injection system.
4. Crank the car for 10 seconds. That should blow out any gas. Repeat, just to make sure.
5. Inject 1 ounce of automatic transmission fluid or two stroke oil into both lower chambers.
6. Put plugs back in. Don't reconnect wires.
7. Crank for a few seconds with fuel injection system fuse still out. This will seal all possible surfaces around the engine.
8. Remove plugs and clean or put new plugs in.
9. Reattach wires and reinsert fuse.
10. Start normally. I usually like to attach a battery charger with a starter setting to keep the battery up.
11. It should start. You'll see a lot of smoke coming out of tailpipe. Even cars with blown seals will restart, usually. If you do have a blown seal, you won't be able to get it restarted. At that point a compression test would be a good idea.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clear up a few things, is this the fuel injection system fuse? This is the one I originally pulled:

There is also a fuel pump relay at the front to the left hand side of the intercooler, should I pull this aswell?

Also as said before I have some Motul green gearbox fluid which was for the autobox on my 300zx would this be any good to inject into the plug wells?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for all your help guys.

Pulling the fuel pump relay should prevent the pump from send gas forward. I just usually pull the middle 30 amp EGI fuse from the main fuse block. Either one should work, I think.

As to the Motul green. I don't know what the stuff is made of. Two stroke lawn mower oil is probably the safest bet.
