STFA, CRV lazy to close?

Every once and a while the CRV stays open on changeover so boost keeps dropping, but by 5500-6000 at the latest it slams closed and I get full secondary boost, I never go through the gear without getting the secondary, just hear the noise of what sounds like a external wastegate which makes me think CRV, I know these rarely go bad themselves, so why is it staying open too long?

thanks

checked it out, the port that runs to the Y-pipe (directly next to the one on top, not the metal one) apparently broke and someone tried to jbweld it back on, what does that port specifically do?

here is a pic from the diagram indicating which nipple was broken/leaking, it's the far end of the charge relief solenoid (H in the full diagram) and it looks like it runs to the secondary turbo outlet, anyone know how the system would act with an intermittent connection?

Well, that is the solenoid which controls the Charge Relief valve. I would suggest replacing it.

LOL yeah I got one on order, I was just trying to figure out what would happen when that specific nipple is leaking, the one on the top runs to the CRV itself, the one that broke on mine runs to the compressor outlet

Do you also hear a very light clicking sound at low RPMs (under ~3500) when on the throttle?

I'm having a similar issue, but I thought I was getting boost creep at 5,500 RPM b/c boost jumped from 10 to ~12 psi.

no clicking, primary boost has always been fine, it would just continue to vent the CRV past 4500 and boost would steadily drop 9-8-7-6-5-4-3 before the CRV finally closed, sometimes taking until 6000rpm where boost would spike to 11-12 then 10 and pull to redline, when the crv stays open at least on my apexi open element intakes it's quite loud and noticable that it isn't right... sounds like an ANGRY boost leak almost external wastegate-ish sounding

Thanks for the clarification. That is not what I am experiencing.

Mine just drops to ~8 psi at transition makes some venting sound at transition and
then seems like it very quickly oscillates 2-3 times from ~8-10 psi for a split second,
then I get full normal 10 PSI boost,
then around 5500 RPM I get ~12-13 PSI.

Good luck troubleshooting!

Ok, I've had this problem before and with help from the forum diagnosed the problem to be this. Now it happened again and I changed the solenoid again and its not going back to regular boost. The secondary is still venting out all boost out the CRV. Could something else be wrong, or did I just not put the solenoid on correctly? Does it take a while for the Power FC to realize everything is connected properly so it can boost again (I replaced the solenoid on Wednesday)?

Hmm. I'll check to see if I installed it correctly. Keep the suggestions coming.
