Starts fast, then gets slow.

I have an odd problem with my Fd that maybe you guys can help me find what is causing it. When I start the car and let it warm up for about ten minutes, then drive, the car is VERY fast and the turbos spool up with no problem at all. than after drving for maybe 4 minutes, the car just looses some power. the throttle starts to feel spongy, and the engine just loses power.

I don't have my boost gauge yet, so I am not exactly sure what's happening there. I just had my engine rebuilt awhile ago at Mazda. I've got about 17 days of warranty left on it. any ideas? i also occassionaly get a growling sound when i get on the throttle for the whole first turbo it seems, 27k-45k. and my oil pressure drops down to.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I sometimes get the same problem.

Take it in under warranty and see if they can find anything. Do you have a deductible?

check the vacum line that goes to the map sensor above the power brake booster. that could be it but I'd still take it in under warranty and have the mcheck out all ofthe systems might be more than one thing.

Did you ever get any idea what it was? I have the 12 month replacement part warrantyon my car, but I have taken it in for diagnostic before and been charged. if they find a problem i don't pay anything. I had a leaking oil pan, and that was replaced at no extra cost. I go check the vaccuum hose now too.

When my engine was originally replaced, it was due to low compression when warm according to the tech notes.

Any other ideas anyone? I am totally broke right now, so I don't want to have to pay for a inconclusive diagnostic like I have 3 times before.

I checked a few hoses, and sure enough, a massively cracked one. I started the engine up, and listened for it. this thing was just spewing air. both ends are cracked. it's the small hose about 4-5" under the large upper intake hose. it connects to a small thing that a has the the large plastic hose running to the IC ( I still don't know all the names of everything one my engine). I called Mazda and the said it won't be under warranty, but it should be easy to replace.

Are you talking about the Y-pipe? It's a metal piece shaped like a Y (duh) below the primary turbo intake pipe (large ribbed pipe). The Y-pipe connects to the crossover tube (large flat black plastic tube running to the intercooler piping) using a rubber coupler. What is split? If it's just the rubber coupler, just replace that. If your Y-pipe is bad, you might as well get an Efini Y-pipe. Details here: http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/efini.htm

It's a small black rubber hose that connects too the air pump. I went to get some heater pipe and put it on, but it is a bitch to do it. I got it on, but not good so it still leaks. maybe I should get the OEM peice. couldn't cost too much. is it safe to drive with it leaking like this?

I really don't know what it could be, maybe a sticking solinoid. My car will run badass one minute and then just have no power the next. I originaly thought it was a clogged cat and most of it went away after I did a midpipe but I still get it every once in a while, the "growling". No difference in throttle feel and my oil pres gauge never works so I can't check it.
