starter not firing 100% WTF
ok here's a list of new stuff on my car.
reman from mazda
new main harness
dp+high flow cat+rb exhaust
apexi dual intakes
new clucth
new trany fluid
new gtx oil
brand spanking new starter switch (stering colum)
ok now the problem.... we put in the new engine a few weeks ago it started on the first try. everything on the old engine worked great, however now the starter motor doesn't fire all the time. it won't even make a clicking sound! I did a search but all the people who seem to have a similar problem have a PFC, I still have my stock ecu. I've also noticed that the security light doesn't come on, but it does make the 'beep' sound. could the security system think that somethings wrong and it's telling the ecu not to turn the starter? I had the starter testing today and the guy at advanced said a new starter wouldn't perform any better than the one I have. any ideas???????

You probably left something unplugged. Trace the battery harness down to the starter. Get under the car with a volt meter and see if you have 12v at ther starter terminals with the ingiton on and cranking. Also, you're going to be replacing the motor again very soon with the stock ecu and mods.

old motor went bad due to horrible rebuild from previous owner, he reused all the old seals and gaskets. already checked and rechecked all plugs and connectors near the starter.

If it at least gives you a "click" sound, its likely just a dirty 12v connection on the starter. If it doesn't even click, I agree that its a bad or missed connection: clutch switch for example.

the only thing i can think of that wasnt pluged in was next to the ecu there is a small black wire ( female clip) that reads 12v's. i have no idea where that thing plugs into???? also my display on my radio isnt bright even with the lights on its dull. also mention up top is that my secuity light doesnt come on after i lock the car? it beeps but no flashing red light... could all this be linked to that black plug?
