started engine without tps plugged in
Tried starting the reman engine last night, was sure I had everything covered.
It started and ran for about 30 seconds. The rpm climbed to about 3000 then the engine did a slight backfire noise and quit. I waited a short while and tried it again. It started and ran at normal Idle speed, but the check engine light was on.
I turned it off immediately.
This morning I checked the error code and realized I had missed one friggin plug...the throttle sensor. I plugged it in, but now the engine is not starting and there is gas dripping off the bottom of the engine. Is it flooded or did I **** something else up? I'm in over my head here. Help?
PLEASE.

Probably a loose fuel line causing the leak of gas under the motor (crossed fingers), did you disconnect the battery and reset the ECU. I wouldn't think the injectors would leak enough fill the motor up to the point it ran out you should be able to jumper the fuel pump at the diagnostic plug and look for the leak first. Then try and start it after the leak is fixed and the fuel fumes have cleared. PS. move the car outside if it's in a garage (don't want to take out the house too.)
I've done the same thing before. IIRC I ran it a lot longer than you. I never had a back fire, but I had no problems after reconnecting it. So keep in mind that your problem may not be something you expect.

This morning I got it started, I think it was probably flooded. The leak was at the end of the fuel rail. I had replaced the copper washers after I lost one of them. The crush washers I used as replacements were a little to large. The gas was pretty much running down the onto the turbos. Good thing I didn't run the engine for very long. I got the fuel leak fixed, but the engine is still quite hard to start. Is this normal for a "new" engine?
Also how do you reset the stock ECU? just disconnect the battery?
