Started engine removal.... but what's next?? (help!) pics attached

Ok folks, my engine block should be here any day now (supposed to be tomorrow!), so I thought it was about time I started doing some preperation for it! (with help from a friend).

Ok.... so far the oil and coolant's been emptied.
The FMIC and incuction kits have been removed.
The Air Con pipes have been disconnected
The ECU plugs have been pulled through.
The loom has been disconnected from the engine, all the little plugs etc.
The downpipe has been disconnected from the mid pipe.
Disconnected the oil cooler pipes.
Removed the cross bar thing

So, what's still to be done?

I'm thinking...

Engine mounts
Gearbox

Have I missed anything?

The engine mounts should be easy, no? I'm a little worried about the gearbox side of it? Is there a how to anywhere, or I'm open to as much advice as you folks can give me please!!

Here's some piccys...

Someone suggested disconnecting the clutch hydralic line? Anyone got any pics of where this is, or how to disconnect?

Also to disconnect the starter motor and the slave cylinder? I've disconnected the electrics to the starter, anything else? Also, where's the slave cylinder, and how to remove?

Gonna do the clutch using screwdrivers to release it as recommended over at MRC. Someone also said that the gearbox will drop? How far? Should I prop it up with a jack?

Any help greatfully received!

This is definitively not something I would do in the street.

Disconnect the hydaulic needs 2 10mm wrenches.

Look at the transmission and motor and make sure nothing is connected.
On the right hand side (facing engine) you got 3 fuel lines, a coolant line, the two oil lines that go to the oil cooler. (23 and 17 mm wrenches if I remember correctly)
There is still 2 plugs you did not disconnect from the wiring harness.
Disconnect the powersteering pump, air con pump.

I know I am forgetting stuff.

Goto www.fd3s.net it will help you out.

I've disconnected the oil cooler lines. Where roughly is the collant line and 3 fuel lines? Any pics?

Also, what two plugs still aren't disconnected if you don't mind me asking?

Finally.. when you say disconnect the power steering pump and air con pump, do you mean simply the plugs attached to them?

thanks in advance. Appreciated!

You change your tire, maybe even change your oil.....but you don't remove/install an engine in the street. That's not allowed in most cities.

He is in a different country changing motors in the street might be common. I can honestly say i have never tryed to pull the motor with that many accesories, I usually try to break the engine down and much as possible before I remove it for simplicity. IM guessing your going to drop it down through the bottom?

Why would you think that? The whole sub frame would have to com out to do that.

I don't know if you had a working AC unit but you could have just unbolted the compressor and pwr. steering pump and moved them aside instead of taking the hoses loose. Taking the slave cylinder off the tranny will keep you from having to bleed the clutch system AS LONG AS YOU DON'T PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN ONCE UNHOOKED) remove the starter, disconnect the throw out bearing from the clutch plate, it will help to lift the tranny as high as possible when pulling the motor.

On the contrary I would try to take out as much as possible.

I would lift the motor with the ear on the UIM and the frontal one with a standard engine lift.

nothing to worry about, that jack is in a prime location and the wheels are still on so it will just bounce back up if it comes crashing down. lol

Yeah, I'm in Scotland.

It's not that big a deal doing it on the side of the street to be honest. You're not really supposed to, but I've never had any problems doing so.

Not had a chance to get much done due to the weather!

But today I've ...

Removed the map sensor
Disconnected the Clutch hydraulic line
Disconnected the power steering lines
Disconnected the fuel lines

I also found a coolant hose near the rear of the engine I had forgot about and also another near the front. I also removed the hose which goes to the black thing at the top left of the engine bay (it connects to the UIM) and I also removed the throttle cables.

So.....

Am I now right in thinking I need to :

Undo the mounts
Unclip the harness on the gearbox
Remove starter motor
Undo the gearbox/clutch

Then it should lift out?? Or have I missed anything here?

thanks in advance people... your help certainly makes it easier!

I could never have done it without the Remove and Replace DVD that I bought. I had no mechanics background and was easily able to remove the engine by following the instructions.

It's not too bad tbh. I personally have very little mechanical knowlege, but I'm getting there.
