Question Staples in Fenderwell?

On my all original 93 RX-7 touring there is staples in the front fenderwells through the black plastic liner? They did not do this from the factory correct? Whats weird is I dont see why they are needed as it looks like I have all of my clips except one or two. Just wanted to make sure it was not "stock" before I pulled them and assessed if I needed anymore clips.

Thanks,
Drew

Yep, I've purchased brand new fender liners from Mazda and they have the staples. Hey, they do the job great, no complaints.

You could have determined this on your own if had had actually checked it out.

They are Monel staples, by the way. Marine grade, so to speak.

Monel being similar in properties to stainless steel, but Monel is a trade name. An alloy consisting of nickel, hence the bright silvery look, with some copper thrown in, and other smaller amounts of metals in there. Mostly spec'd in marine applications for its corrosion resistance like SS. Usually non-magnetic, and more expensive than SS.

Very hard to work in a lathe. The feed speed has to be low, because the stuff work hardens, and makes a coarse cut and finish if the chuck or feed speed is too fast.

Honda NSX keys were made of monel. I'll shut up now :p
