Standard or Alternate paint for Competition Yellow
I’m getting my FD painted competition yellow mica J9. My painter is asking me if I want the standard or alternate J9 from ppg.
My car is a 94 and originally Montego so I guess it doesn’t matter. Just wondering if anyone has some insight. Thanks.

Go for the standard paint.
An alternate is usually just a slightly different tone developed for a better color match. Most good paint shops have a paint scanner (or use a let down panel) to determine which alternate is best. For a full repaint I'd always choose the standard option.
