Question stainless mesh for front bumper

I am thinking of getting some stainless mesh to cover the openings in the front bumper to save my FMIC, oil cooler, radiator, etc. Doesn't seem like anyone does this. Why not? Are there problems with airflow, attachment, others. Has anyone tried this? What size mesh would be optimum?

I don't know if there are problems with airflow or not, but I have heard the idea brought up before for protection FMIC's and I don't think it's a bad one.

BTW, the C-West race car I think uses mesh in the two smaller inlets on the bumper for protection as well I would guess.

I think it would be a great upgrade!
Last weekend I met up with a guy driving a Mitsu Lancer EVO VI with a large bird smashed into the mesh in front of the FMIC, I imagine the mesh saved that IC.
And when I look at my oil-coolers, I really see no excuse to why I shouldn't install some sort of mesh there. Those coolers are really beat up!

I would be using it with a replica of this bumper so hopefully the larger openings will negate any flow penalty from the mesh.

I just had my body shop install the mesh in all 3 openings on the Mazda Speed GTC front. He used epoxy to adhere it to the fiberglass. I did not want my polished Apex FMIC all hammered up either. i think it looks better also.
