With all the modding that guy had done to the car he didn't have a boost gauge? Comprestion test for sure see how that motor's going.

Oh boy...you got a lot more to look for than just sounds Here's something to get you started http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide3g/bguide3g.html And that's the BARE minimum.

As for import shop, again, 99.99% of shops in the WORLD have absolutely NO idea what they're doing when it comes to rotaries, ESPECIALLY FD's. Even Mazda technicians aren't trained to work on 'em. So many cars were misdiagnosed for having blown motors and turbos due to vacuum leaks, boost leaks, unplugged map sensors, etc etc, simply cuz the Mazda technicians had no idea how to troubleshoot the very advanced sequential twin turbo system in the FD. Your best bet is to take the car to Ray Wilson of PF Supercars, the local expert in FDs.

PFSupercars
4995 Winchester Blvd
Frederick, MD 21703
Phone: (301) 874-0611

I'd have him check out the car from head to toe, but I'd do your homework and see if the car is worthwhile FIRST. There are some basic things you wanna check quickly to see if this car is junk or worth the cash. And again, I don't mind helping ya out w/ this.

THEN, if it passes, have it thoroughly inspected by Ray. Tell him Ramy sent ya. He'll take care of ya.

Pics won't do anything. You gotta physically check the car. Refer to the website I mentioned above. And you wanna check the car for body damage, frame damage, etc etc. Hands on - ESPECIALLY if the car's being sold by a dealer. Those guys are super shady at times.

To post a pic, you gotta upload it. When you're in the "Post Reply" screen, go to the "manage attachments" button, upload it, click save/ok, and vioala

Car is pretty heavily modified...which means I'd DEFINITELY get Ray to check it out... The only other worry I have is (no offense), how well you can handle that kind of power. FD's are very very hard to drive...that's why so many new guys wreck 'em. So much power, so suddenly, so peaky, in such a light car makes for a VERY bad combination in inexperienced hands...

Ray will prob charge you an hour, which is $85 IIRC. As for age, I'm only 24, but I've been driving for about a decade. And the FD was definitely NOT my first car. You should SERIOUSLY rethink this man...as a friend. An FD should NEVER EVER be anyone's first car, and ESPECIALLY not a modded FD. You don't know what you're getting into...

You aren't trying to daily driver this car, are you? You know FD's are VERY unreliable, right? And highly modified ones (like this one) are EXTREMELY unreliable and VERY costy to maintain, right? I hope you do... insurance is very expensive too, b/c it's classified has a high performance vehicle.

As for moves, the first thing you should learn is how to keep the car from spinning out on you, or slamming into a wall (no joke). It's VERY easy to lose control of an FD. Read here: https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/throwing-cost-out-window-468485/ Read it CAREFULLY. Please. That's not to be taken lightly.
