SRT-4 Front Mount for FD?
Hey guys I mentioned this idea before and I tried to ask in the SRT-4 forums about effiency and they looked at me like wtf, shows how much they know. So anyways I know the stock POS intercooler sucks big. Now this guy got a giant front mount for his SRT-4 and has his stocker sitting there. He is willing to sell it to me for $150 and I can get a place to custom fit it for 100$ thats a total of 250$ for a good intercooler. Is it worth it, and how efficient or non-efficient is it?

Hey, I'm actually about to go outside and start installing one right now.
I happen to work for DaimlerChrysler and know some of the engineers that worked on that intercooler. They did extensive testing and cfd of the end tanks to make sure the pressure drop was very low.
As far as the cfm requirements for the SRT-4, the intercooler goes, srt-4s can make similar power levels as our cars using this intercooler.
Also, keep an eye on the srtforums site. Some people are finding out how good the stock srt-4 FMIC is because they are making less power with bigger, aftermarket ones.
Anyway, I figure it's got to be better than stock at the very least. And at 200 bucks or so vs. 500 or more for anything with a greddy, hks,.... name on it I think it's a deal.
Anyway, I'll take pics and let you guys know what happens.

do it, it has to be better than the stock one and its only 250. and if its not you can put the old one back on and you only lose 250 wich you can get back from ebay dummys easy. have fun

I just measured it. 24x5.75x3 inches.
So far, I've got everything taken off, and I'm fitting it. Looks like it will fit well. I'll post pics when I'm done working on it tonight.

I'm interested in the outcome of this as well. When is it supposed to be finised?
250 + piping/couplers is much cheaper than 900+ for a greddy if it peforms equally.

As you can see it sits a little low. That's because the end tanks interfere with the frame rails when it's fitted right behind where the fascia opening stops.
Also, I have the opening pulled open a bit more (note the bungee cord and battery)
I think I can manage to get it far enough to completely fill the opening. I'm not a fan of how it sits now. It might involve cutting the fascia some or the very end of the frame rails, neither of which I really want to do.
Also, note that the way I fitted the intercooler is the opposite way it is oriented in the one picture. The end tank with the turn up in that picture will be on the passenger side pointing down.

Expensive Hobby: Let us know how it feels and what not, notice any differences? How is the effiency, maybe you want to check the boost at the turbos then at the manifold.

Pressure drop normally has very little to do with end tanks, it's normally a function of the internal passage size through the core. Core height and depth are the factors that matter most for pressure drop. Based on the dimensions posted "24x5.75x3 inches" I'd say it has significantly more pressure drop than most aftermarket IC's BUT, and an important BUT it is, I'm sure it's leaps and bounds above the OEM FD IC. If you can get it working for $250 then it's an awesome deal. It's not in the same ballpark as other aftermarket IC's though, even the greddy 2 row.
