Because it looks like a huge ***** with a handle. LOL In all honesty I am shocked it didnt make the list. I am not a huge fan of the looks of a supra(obvious by my description of how it looks) but they are impressive cars from a technical point of view. I have driven a couple of them and they just arent that inspiring behind the wheel. However, the fact that the stock tranny,bottom end, and rear end of the car can hold around 8-900 hp is still impressive none the less.

Sure its a nice car, but people in japan/europe arent like OMGROFL!!!11SKYLINE!!! like they are in the US. Its as expensive as a porsche 911 and is not any quicker than an FD or a supra and is pretty heavy (3300-3400lbs about)

The C5 Vette and the Supra are very impressive but if I had to choose only 2 from the Supra, VR4 3000GT, FD, and 300ZX TT, I would have picked the 300 and the 7. The 300 was the first one to come out hitting hard with 300 hp in 90 when the RX7 turbo had only 200 and the Supra 230. Altough some magazines ran 15.0 in the twin turbo Z, and it is heavy with funky but fun handling, I think it's the best looking of the 3. The FD is just, lighter, better looking, and better handling than all of them. Supra =***** with a handle LOL !!!!

Well im not gonna go into which car should of or should not of made it just so I dont gt call a stupid 18 year old who doesnt deserve a fd. Altough I'm very happy to be part of the top ten. Our cars are amazing machines and im proud to own one.

The Miata is the epitome of a sports car. Light, superbly balanced, handles just about as good as it gets, but it lacks in the power department. The RX-7, by strictly performance standards, should have taken the top of the first list. Its just a slightly bigger version of the Miata with a whole lot more power, and virtually perfect chassis balance.

The Boxter is a poor mans Porsche. I have no idea why that made the list, but it did. The Supra, as many already noted, is a pig. It has an amazing motor and transmission, but it lacks in the looks and weight department. The Skyline didnt make it into the US, so thats why it didnt make that list.

RX-7 > everything else.

The Supra totally is a Japanese Camaro. I've referred to it at that many times. It's funny to hear someone else say it. I don't mean it badly either. When you talk staight line performance, the Supra(and Camaro) represent very well.
It's nice to be represented so well on that list.
When they do a 2000's list, the Vette will absolutely be on there. Great car......
BTW, I was impressed with the GTO. I just saw one at a show. It does supposedly does 0-60 in under 5 seconds. It's all metal.......no plastic, so think that's pretty damn good. The salesman said it had 400hp/400torque...........that seems pretty good to me.
I have no idea how it's handling was rated though, and handling is what a lot of people cosider to define a sportscar.

The Boxter's main purpose was to revive porsche's open-air, two seater racing car. My understanding is that they based it off of the car that James Dean died in on Mulholland Drive (i think it was a 914, but correct me if i'm wrong). maybe that's why it got on the list, but maybe it's just me being stupid

i drive a 928s4 fairly frequently (my fathers) the only porsche ever produced with a v8 and i must although very fun to drive and incredibly stable at high speeds the rx7 is by far more fun to drive fast slow and curvy

I don't understand all the resentment for the Boxster, those who bash it obviously have not driven one. The handling is excellent and very stable, the brakes are ridculous, the power is not all that great but good enough, it's like an expensive miata. The Boxster S is not a poor mans porsche, look at the MSRP on one. Just because they do not run 170+ does not mean they cannot hand most cars their *** on the track. It's like saying the FD is worthless because it's slower than the supra...stock. In fact i come to the conclusion that the FD is a poor mans porsche b/c it competed so closely with the 993 in the 90's.

note they didnt not base the Carrera GT on the 911 as they did with the 959, they learned lessons with the boxster and built the CGT based more on that car. also boxster drivers base the car they bought on speed, they could get a C5 for nearly the same price. they buy it for the porsche experience. after driving various 911's 1982, 1997, 2003 i can tell you there is a difference between porsche and other cars.

Actually, I think the Boxster was Porsche's aim to boost sales in a time when they weren't doing so well. If I recall correctly, didn't they stop production of the 911 around that time (for a short period)? The promise of a PORSCHE for under $40K was GOLDEN for the middle class, and people jumped at it like crazy.

So basically, in my book, Porsche sold out lol. They borrowed BMW and Audi parts to make it happen, and it sold like hotcakes. But it's still a poor-man's substitute for a Porsche IMO

914 and 924 show a little history on the same subject... The Boxster is an improvment over either of those cars hands down.

Yeah. Oncoming car didn't see James Dean's silver 550, since Dean's car was so low to the ground. It was said that Dean was going fult tilt on the highway, en route to participate in an SCCA road race. Dean and his mechanic were in the 550. Dean succumbed to a broken neck and died. The mechanic lived, but died in his own car accident many years later. There's a rumor of the James Dean curse. Anyone that has held on to that wrecked 550, had bad luck, or experienced some sort of calamity? Anyhow, the Boxster is supposed to remind us of the Porshe 550. I've driven my students' Boxsters (non-S models) while instructing them @ opentracking events. Boxsters are nice sports cars--great handling and braking, but quite underpowered for their weight--I was used to my beast-of-an-FD Rx7 LOL
