KDR is the place to take any rx7, Dave is a great guy and I don't have enough good things to say about him. Ask anyone on this forum and nobody would take their FD to a dealership.
It really shouldn't cost much for what you're having done unless he has to tear something about to find the leak. Enjoy!

honestly that shouldn't cost that much. maybe 150? That would be my guess on 80/hour shop rates plus supplies. I'm assuming you haven't bought the parts before taking it to him either. If you have, then it'll probably be less.
could still call him up and ask him how much to bring with you when you pick it up.

1. He installed a 3 pillar gauge. No gauges were installed, right?
2. He replaced vaccuum hoses with your purchased hoses?
SO 310 was basically all for labor? I don't know the book rates on a vacuum job but the A piller is a pretty simple process. Maybe 15 minutes.

I'm also interested in seeing a detailed list of what work was performed.
When I first bought my FD and the turbos were leaking oil, I took it to a "rotary specialist", that charged me over $700 to "stop" the leak and install a BOV. I don't even know what they did, they must have replaced the turbos with a used set or something.... regardless, 3 months later I had the exact same problem...

Sounds about right, due to the rats nest of hoses. Anyway, I also trust that Dave wouldn't rip you off. In fact, my FD is there right now. And if you think that repair bill is steep, add a couple hundred and a 0 to the end of it. That's what I'll be paying after everything is all back together and running properly. If you're feeling ambitious, go check it out when you go to pick up your 7 and see how he's doing on it. It's the silverstone metallic FD w/ carbon fiber hood/door handles/interior. Anyway, good luck with your 7, and hopefully your vac leak is gone...though with Dave working on it I'm sure it will be!
Edit :: It looks like you've already picked up your car. How's it running?

get used to these kinds of bills! your an FD owner now.. start learing how to do some things yourself its a big help and the forum is a great place for support. stay away from the dealer they know nothing about these cars and will charge you just as much as a rotary shop but you will have more problems when they get done .

final update
i just got back from kdr...all the cost was for labor. they decided to do everything seperate...which kinda dissapointed me? it only took 15 min to do each thing, but they charged an hour at a time!
i made it easy for them to...i told them where the vacuum leak was. i did forget a restrictor pill though.
i cant complain too much though...i was very happy with there service, and with dave putting up with me...haha

You are paying for specialty service and peace of mind (I expect his work is done right based on his rep), in my experience any bill less tha 500 is good fortune. Just about every time I tear into an FD there are unknown isses that are discovered that tend to run up the total labor and parts bill.

With specialty shops, it isn't about price; it's about knowing they aren't going to mess up your car. I can relate quite a few horror stories for ya from stealerships... Not to mention a plethora of misdiagnoses...which result in an endless trial-and-error replace & try method, with an ASTRONOMICAL bill...
