Spark plugs and wires
Looking to purchase some spark plugs and wires.
A) Do I habe to buy matching wires, or are the wires universal? Which wires do people normally run ?
B) Which heat range should I run?
Trailing ? and Leading?
Please post recomended wire and spark plug set ups.
my current mods are Intake, DP, and Exhaust.

Whats the difference between the racing beat street and racing Ignition Wires?
the street ones are rated at 5000 OHM resistance
the race ones are 0 OHM resistance.
They are both the same price also...

i like the NGK B9EGV's i recommend them even for stock. They are cheaper then stock, seem to have a better spark and reduce fouling more. I get mine from orielly's They do require a special thin socket though, or turn a regular one down on a lathe which is what i did.

NGK spark plug wires have excellent fitment and support plenty of power. So do stock plugs.

Has anyone used Magnecore racing 10mm or 8.5mm wires?
I am looking to purchase these, just wanted to know if anyone has had some running time with them

I only like stock wires. I have had fitment issues with most others. At under $50 a set, you can't go wrong. Honestly, I have never seen a stock wire burn out or fail in any way other than deteriorating from oil dripping on it or from the wires becoming damaged or ripping during installation/removal. Stock BUR7EQP and BUR9EQP work best for your application. The platinums are more resilient to fouling. I have found that even running all 9s on a stock port car leads to a rough idle when cold. I only put in all 9s or yet colder plugs when running additional boost.

Thread resurrection because it doesn't make sense to start a new one.
It's about time for me to change my spark plugs again having driven about 1,500 or so miles on my current set and completed two track days with them (I have been advised to change oil, filter and plugs every 2,000 miles or so). I most certainly want to change them prior to my next track day on 27th April at Snetterton in Norwich, UK.
My car is pretty close to stock barring a full 3 inch exhaust system, a twin power and mapped to 0.85 bar [12-12.5 PSI] (although I only see 0.65 bar [9-9.6 PSI] due to a bad solenoid which will be replaced in the next 10-14 days). So we are talking maybe 300 horsepower when boost is where it is supposed to be.
At the moment I have NGK BUR9EQP all around but I am wondering if I would benefit from a slightly hotter plug in the leading given my driving habits. The previous plugs (the same BUR9EQP) were run on the stock ECU with little to no WOT usage (just cruising around as I was waiting to map the car) and were pretty black when they came out. I haven't pulled my current plugs to see how they have fared with the new map and implementation of track days but given my driving style I wonder if the 9s are too cold in the leading socket.
I try to do at least one track day per month but otherwise I only drive on weekends (sometimes) and this driving consists of 25% city and 75% motorway cruising with rpms kept below 4,000 unless doing a quick highway pull. In fact, when cruising off the unrestricted parts of the motorway (not many 60-70 mph roads left near London) I tend to drive in the highest gear possible so rpms are more often than not somewhere between 1,500-2,500. Unless I am out in the sticks, there just isn't any room and there are too many speed cameras to accelerate hard on the street so I drive it like an 80 year old man most of the time on public roads.
This leads me to think that the 9s might not be optimal in the leading because they aren't getting hot enough (and thus fouling prematurely) so perhaps a hotter plug would suit me better. I also notice that my cold idle is not great, i.e. lots of mini after fires in weather under 45F (as it has been in England until recently) until the idle drops to about 1,200 RPM. Perhaps it's the plugs?
However, I wonder if 7s are too hot and perhaps BUR8EQPs would be a better choice as a halfway house between 7s and 9s?
I can hardly find any information on people running the 8s except that Mazdatrix recommends them for lots of city driving.
Will I be sacrificing anything running a slightly hotter leading plug in terms of performance for my setup?

Simplistically, the terms hot and cold refer to the heat retained in the spark plug. To decrease detonation you want a colder plug. 9's are recomennded all around unless you are pushing a lot of boost, where you'll want something colder, 10-11's.
