The double insulator helps prevent breaks in the wire due to mechanical strain. Failures due to current load are reduce with the significantly lower resistance as well. These wires are win win on many levels!

i also noted more difficulty starting engines with the Magnecor 10mm wires, though they do work for higher horsepower builds i never cared for the drawbacks.
the only nice thing about the Magnecors is they are lifetime warranted against breaking the terminals(not sure if they actually document this fact or not). send them back and they will repair them free minus freight costs. that said, they know the "finger" connection internally is a bad design but they continue to make them that way, they are very delicate when removing, a little twisting and they snap off the connector. not good when you are changing your plugs every 5-15k miles.

each electrical connector inside the boot is attached with long strips of metal commonly called "fingers". when you twist the boot to loosen the wire the fingers twist also which fatigues the metal, giving you only a few install/removals before they snap off.
when you see one fail you will see all the metal fingers balled up together due to the twisting motion.
use some dielectric grease during install to aid in removal, helps buy you a few more tries.
the older magnecor wires were solid like most plug wires, i have no idea why they switched to this poor design or keep it.
this more applies to the FC plug wire set, i haven't used their FD wire set yet, if they have 90* boots then they may have a different connector, more solid. or if you have relocated wires with straight or 45* boots they likely will have the design i mentioned which has put me off on their wires.
