Spark Plug Installation help needed please!!
Hi Guys,
Well today I've been trying to change my spark plug wires and have come across a slight problem.
After I have removed the old wires I go to put the new ones on (expecting there to be some kind of a "click") but there's nothing. I assumed that where the wire attaches to the coil the wire would slip over some kind of connection in the coil, but I have looked as best I can and it seems that the spark plug wire pushes into the coil rather then slipping over the coil "adapter". I would say though that this is only for the trailing plugs as when I push on the leading plugs there is a "click"!! (on the coil end)
When any of you experienced FD owners have changed your spark plug wires, is there normally some kind of "click" to indicate that the wire is securely attached to the coil?
Thanks for the input guys, it helps having some knowledge to fall back on when I'm outside in the cold working on the FD.

From my limited experience, the leading coil on the FD typically take a beating. The inner parts of the leading coil connector area will sometimes sort of melt (and sometimes fuse to the plug wire metal connector). If the coil is worn, you probably won't hear or feel a click.

I have to crack on with this tomorrow, then the fuel filter, drain the fuel tank etc and re-gas with fresh fuel before it's new oil and filter, possibly new spark plugs and then hope that the engine will fire up. fingers crossed.
Once it's running I will be able to test if there is coolant going into the combustion chamber.
