spark plug change

Sorry for the newb question, but basically i'm trying to replace my spark plugs and I'm having trouble taking off the wires to get to the plug itself. I dont have much room to wiggle it out and I really dont want to take of the throttle body. Is there anything I can do to make my life easier? Thanks

Yep, "safely" jack up the driver's side front and go from the bottom. IMO, it's MUCH easier.

I have done that, but I'm still having trouble taking off the wires. ALso, what do you mean by safely?

By safely, I mainly mean to not use the stock jack. It's not really made to hold the car while you are working on it.

All I can suggest is that you keep working the wires around in different directions until you pop them off. Make sure to use some dielectrical grease when you put them back on (to avoid this problem on the next plug change).

Yeah I just changed my spark plugs recently (well, from a flooded engine) and it's much easier going from underneath. The plug should come off pretty easy, just wiggle at it.

You can try a can of WD-40 with the thin long plastic tube. Insert the tube 1/4/" to 1/2" on 3 or 4 sides and do just a tiny sqirt each time. Give it a few min to loosen the silicone. Start to rotate the boot left and right 1/4" to 1/2" and when it breaks loose, pull strait out. You don't want to tear the boot. If you have compressed air, clean the inside of the boot. You will also want to buy boot grease (labeled spark plug wire grease - i think) which will prevent it from happening again. A lil dab of anti seize on the plug threads is good to. Inspect the wires for cracks, breaks and tears to determine if they need replacement. Also check the inside of the boot where the metal cap is and make shure it's centered and not coroded. DOn't overtighten the plugs. It should be about 1/8" over turn after hand tightening.

Did anyone ever have any trouble taking these plugs out? I mean... when I was taking the lower plug out of the front rotor housing... some thing was attached to the plug's threads (came out with it) anyone ever encounter this? And yeah I think its easier to go from the bottom... But I'm small so going from the top for me isn't that much of a problem

P.S. Please dont think of me as thread stealing... I just thought this would be a very good place to ask lol.

wow....I think i deserve n00b of the year on this one. This whole time i was trying to remove the wire from the coil. Wow i feel stupid. Once i found the plugs it took me about 15 min to change them. Funny thing is I realized all this after removing the TB LOL. Anyway after putting everything back together...my car started making a high pitched noise while i was driving. It would go away when i press the gas pedal but would come back when i let off. Any ideas of what it can be?

I do my plugs from up top and it takes me maybe 10 minutes with no scratches or bleeding, without removing even the elbow. Of course, I have no P/S or A/C

Does it sound like letting air squeal out of a balloon? If so, check that you tightened your hose clamps on your coupler when you put the elbow back on (and that you didn't tear the coupler in the process)
