Spark
Spark
O.K. I parked my car tried to start it 2 days later and it just cranks. I figured it flooded itself for some reason. I pulled the 2 week old plugs and they were fouled with gas. I tried to clean them up and proceeded to unflood the engine. I put it all back together and still it just cranks and you smell gas. I checked the leading and trailing plugs for spark and nothing. DOES THE EGI FUSE AND RELAY HAVE TO BE IN WHEN YOU TEST FOR SPARK? or are they just for the fuel pump? I got new plugs and tried them too...still nothing. Is there a relay or fuse that controls the coils? I'm hoping its something like that because it looks like a real pain in the *** to replace the coils. Please help me out here guys.

The EGI FUSE (on the positive battery terminal) does have to be in for spark. As for the relay... are you refering to the fuel pump relay up in front of the car? It dosn't have to be in for spark.
Yeah, I mean the EGI fuse on the positive terminal. And the relay labeled EGI or EGI main I believe...Its the yellow one towards the rear of the car. Its right in front of the strut tower bar in the inner fenderwell. Do these control the fuel pump or the coils? So the fuse DOES need to be in...But not the relay? Help is greatly appreciated.

I know there is a fuel pump relay up in the front of the car that controls the fuel pump at high speeds. I have not messed w/ the EGI relay tho... I am in the process of fixing my reX tho and might have to mess w/ that relay soon enough to get my car unflooded. If you have the shop manual you can check if it needs to be in or not in the wiring diagrams. If you don't have the manual... it's online somewhere just do a search on the board.Sorry I couldn't be of more help w/ the realy... good luck!
