I actually changed mine to a 2nd gen. I really did not like the yellow. The only downfall is, there is a slight bump under the carpet.

You might rethink that if you are out late or somewhere further away from home. IMO, you gain nothing by removing it unless you are competition racing the car (in which case every little bit helps).

My tire blew one night when there was something on the road that I didn't see at some "over the speed limit" speeds. I'm glad I had the spare as it was late and I was way out. It would have taken forever to get a truck out there at that time of night. Friends won't be happy to come get you either just because "you wanted to take your spare out".
