Sorry noobie question

Hi, my turbo is leaking internally and i was just wondering what's the name of the stock twins and also how hard is it to rebuild it yourself with a rebuild kit.

there are a lot of itterations of the stock twins. Atleast 4 different part numbers that I can think of all the top of my head. They are all interchangeable, as well.

Stock twins are considered non-rebuildable by most companies that have dealt with them, due to the fact that rebuilt stock twins have an abnormally high short term failure rate. I've seen this in person. My friend's FD with 0 mile rebuilt twins had major oil in the intake and was spraying oil under the hood within 2000 miles.

A viable option, if you have the mods to support them, would be to have the turbos converted to BNR turbos. BNRs cost around $2300, and have a max output of around 420whp non-sequentialy modded with a ported motor and all supporting mods. Another option would be 99spec twins, which are stock and don't require any other mods when running at stock boost levels. 99spec twins cost around $2000 and with a ported motor and supporting mods, can see between 350-360whp.

Unless you have a few thousand laying around in your wallet, you need more than just a "single turbo kit" to run one on the FD. You'll need to add in a programmable ECU, tuning, and most likely fuel upgrades to name a few.

not to mention the fact that a decent GT35R kit costs $1000 more than BNR turbos.

If your in a bind you can pick up used ones for pretty cheap, but you'll prob get what you pay for.. a temp fix.

p.s. I'm going single turbo with in the next month or so if in that time you still need turbos you can come look at my 99's I'm pulling out.

I'm a rookie here and I was wondering what are the differences between 99spec twins and 93-95 twins?

About $1800

They both make about the same power. The 99spec twins spool a little faster. The main advantage is that you can buy 99spec twins brand new. You can't get the 93-95 twins brand new anymore.

Do they have a longer life than the 93-95 twins?
