Something good to say about my FD! Ported Wastegate/New Exhaust
Ported wastegate a year ago. Installed my AWESOME new 3inch Blitz Nurspec the other day.
I have M2 dp, magnaflow mp, and Blitz CB. The car picked up a TON of power over the 2.5inch catback. My boost began to creep +3psi with already fully ported gate.
So...pissed off and angy, I ripped out the twins and did some SERIOUS grinding. No, I did not weld on a bigger flapper. Instead, looking at the center housing and measuring how far the Wastegate Actuater arm can move, I indeed found that the metal of the center housing blocks alot of movement of the Flapper. I ported the living sh*t out of the center housing useless metal area and gained 5mm of movement, maxing out the actuators full length.
End result....
Exhaust sounds extremely unique. I've heard this catback on different setups but for some reason mine just wins. Theres some sort of overtone, like when you rub your finger over a wine glass that resonates through the exhaust. I'm pretty sure this tone is generated by the midpipe and now carried through the catback.
Under wide open throttle the car is loud and mean but definitely not too loud by any means. I love how I can hear the turbos through this exhaust and the compressor side under the hood all under throttle.
And last but not least, most insane part of it all is the amount of torque/spool I must have gained. I can't believe how much a catback adds. I was already running 3inch midpipe and dp into stock cb. I'm blown away how much difference this slightly larger pipe makes! And now it only creeps a SLIGHT .3-.5psi. With 10.5psi and dp/mp + stock cb, I made 260rwhp at 10.5afr. I must have gained at least 20peak rwhp or more, and tons before the power band.

The most substantial change resulted from allowing the flapper to open wider. To do this you must port the crap out of the flat edge on the CENTER housing, where the downpipe bolts too.
