Something about my Fd...

...feels so right.

Just posting as a reminder that there ARE fd owners that have very little probs and are busy driving their cars .

Drove mine yesterday in our NE 25 Degree weather, yummy. Dry roads, cool air, clear sky....bliss.

Did I mention that a college chick following me out of school couldn't keep up with me on the 270 turn on-ramp to the highway? Hmmm, I guess her RSX can't take the turn at 60mph like I can, without tires squealing...besides the fact that I saw 85mph before the the straightaway ended to merge after that turn

So you ditched some girl trying to catch up to you, what if she wanted dick.

Glad your cars running great. I wish my motor wasn't blown.

Mine is running strong but traction is becoming a bigger issue in low gears.

For about $15K give or take, the FD is probably the best bang-for-the-buck ride there is.

Most with problems are simply passed down "Pre-molested" from another owner.

Despite what most would say (Buy one with a reman!), I searched for one that was kept near stock (cept reliability mods), that was a 94+, owned by someone knowledgable, with the ORIGINAL engine and everything still intact.

And that's what I got. XEleventy Billion. Well worth the money and wait,...Zero problems thus far...and I am going to keep up with all the replacements and mainenance on schedule.

Will it blow someday? Probably, but not for a while I'd bet, and by then I'll be ready and wanting to take it apart to really build something unique...who really takes a 100k engine and says "lets boost it!" without re-building the whole thing anyhow? Even the Supra owners over at SF, the 700hp+ fella's...all have the cash to own 30-40k mile Supra's in the first place

I daily drove my FD for a good two months before I realized the truth about how our motors pop all the time.

Good luck to rest of you though!

LOL Well mine's a Fair Weather, Half-DD. She doesn't go to work or school but anything else on a nice day is fine...

Pop all the time? That's a very broad statement.

Nonetheless, as my thread was started to be, I just thought I'd mention a "Praise" or "Yay" about the car, since most don't say anything about theirs running good...they only post when there's something to complain about (which is understood).

I've only blown one motor, but it seems like many with highly modded cars, blow theirs all the time.

It's cool to praise the car though, they are lots of fun.

42 degrees celcius here two days ago (107F).

I've had mine for two months now and no problems. Car was completely stock when I bought it and is in good condition, I've begun reliability mods. LOVE every second of owning it.

Oh the only problem is shitting myself after reading about everyones problems! Ha - awesome thread, restore some of that lost confidence

I had two FD's.

After replacing the origional motors and turbos both with 80,000 + miles.

Doing the reliability mods.

I daily drove both for a good year. And I mean driving, going everywhere in the car.

Never had ONE problem.

Only problem I remember was my battery terminal got corroded and i had to clean it, thats it.

These cars are very reliable if you respect them and get them properly tuned. And dont drive like a ******* idiot, launching from a dead stop and putting rediculous strain on the chasis and every other component.

i paid "alot," probably what most people would call "too much," for my 93 base FD... but you know what? when you add in all the tings that i hear people having to fix and considder that my car was from the original owner and ONLY had 32k miles on it when i bought it and was still in complete stock form, i'd say i've pretty much broke even but had many fewer headaches as a result

i had one cooling fan go bad on me... it cost $50 to get fixed... that's it

Mine started off good two years ago, 39K miles. Nothing major. Just enough to **** me off. Brake light (easy fix), oil leak (easy fix), rough idle (have yet to fix), and water leak (waiting on the parts). car has 49K miles now. Must buy Civic to stop putting miles on the FD.

mine was that way too, no problems what so ever, but it wanted a single turbo conversion that I was going to put off till the twins or engine gave..but my car decided she wanted the single conversion already and did not want to wait...instead of blowing the turbos she just let the coolant line to the turbo's give..lol...so now single is in the process...

I've had problems with mine, but then again it goes back to pre-moletation and half-assed workmanship. Some of the stuff I find was "half-assed" in my car really pisses me off. Towards the end of lat summer when I worked out alot of the bugs and did some thing properly, it started running better. Hopefully next summer it will be only fun
