I am not from us but I think that that you can import car from japan like europe country. But no one do that becuase the taxes is very expensive and also you have to drive a right hand drive car in to left hand drive country.
So if you calculate the shipping cost and the taxes you can buy rx7 fd 1995 model from us in a very good condition and you have money to make and mods on it.And if your plans is to convert a rhd to lhd car then with this money you can convert with better parts 1995 model to 99 spec rx7 with many more options.

Now about turbo.
If you want rx7 with out turbo then you dont realy want rx7 you can buy a normal car.

search little harder.. maybe search for Right hand drive FD. This topic have been discussed and I've personally made several posts about why!

And thats also for why NA FD.. I'm guessing you don't own an FD or just bought one?

Otherwise, call your local DMV.

You can do that with '93-95 model without too much hassles as those have already been DOT approved. However, you run into the situation of buying a car, thousands of miles away without ever actually driving it. There are plenty of RX7s for sale here in the US so it makes it a worthless adventure.

You can do a non-turbo setup. However, a fully built NA motor is going to cost you just as much as a turbo setup in the end. There are quite a few FD SCCA race cars which are all NA. However, those motors they run are about $8k.

Just simply removing the turbos off the stock engine is going to negate the whole point of having a sports car.

There are many crash tests the JDM cars do not pass from my understanding (thats why the skyline is not here) along with EPA emissions. Thats just a start to the importing ?

And for a NA fd! Come on get real. Have you ever drove a stock NA RX7 before and that should be your simple answer there.

you can import them however they will not be street legal and you will not be able to get a title for them. you can not import one due to the fact that they do not meet saftey regulations. the only car you can import and make it legal to drive is a skyline. and the only way this can be accomplished is you make tons of cash to a company called moterx and they will update the saftey features to me us standards. this is the only company that can do this i believe.

Yeah, someone has already gone through the headache of getting the cars acceptable for safety, emissions, and regulations for Skylines.

I did some research on getting a 96+ FD into the states, but the law varies from state to state. Unless I'm mistaken, the bumpers do not met spec, and neither does emissions. You would have to present documentation of crash tests and the like to get it registered in the US.

However, there are some loopholes. I once played with the idea of having a car parted out and reassembled in the states as a kit-car, but the costs wouldn't be practical.

You can import just about any vehicle for track use. It is excluded from emissions standards, but you won't be able to get it on the road legally unless you figure out the red-tape.

Yeah, do not spend that savings on an FD. Absolutely don't do that.
