well, there is many variable in how a blow off valve might sound. They have a similar frequency, but they can vary from different boost pressure, the plumbing of the bov, how close it is to the turbo or the throttle body, and the spring tightness...

That stuttering is a wastegate noise? have u an external wastegate.. beacause u cacn hear the high pitch dump noise at the beginning then the wastegate 'stutter' takes over..

Fong, do a low-medium speed flyby blow-off (external video).

Anyone know what BOV those high power jap cars (esp the drift cars) usually use? It stutters alot and sounds like 'zooo-zuhh-zuh-zuh-zuh'

most high power jap cars (esp the drift cars) dont have BOV, they are compressor surging (saw this in signal auto's sil-80's)

Wouldn't they damage their turbos real quick with all that compressor surge?

If they're running BB turbos, then no it wouldn't damage the BB turbos.

you talking about ceramic thrust bearings? (turbonetics style?)

Because most of those jap drift cars use HKS stuff and the bearings used in those are standard bearings - twice the thrust load tolerance of normal journal bearings, but only 1/20th compared to ceramic thrust bearings (40x more thrust tolerance than journal bearings)

they would but they dont really care, they can afford to get new ones if needed, remember, in japan, things are very cheap, especially for used parts.
