some help appreciated plz!

Recently my boost level changed from 12 psi to 8 psi. I tried searching but found many reasons such as vacuum leak etc. Can somebody tell me an easy and uncomplicated way of checking why my boost level has gone down without using difficult words and terms which go way above my head(sorry but im new to this)
Thnx in advance

First: This topic has been covered at least 50 times. Please search for messages about boost problems before posting.

Second: Please use a more descriptive subject next time. Something like this would have been good: "Boost was 12 psi, now only 8 psi, please help".

Last: The turbo control system is complicated, and there are a lot of reasons why you might have low boost. There really aren't any simple shortcuts to solving the problem, but people have written a lot about the process of troubleshooting. You have two choices -- A) invest your time to learn how it works, follow some troubleshooting instructions, and try to figure out what it wrong, or B) hire an expert to do it for you. I suggest A if you plan to keep the car for a while.

The best site that I know of for troubleshooting information was written by Derek Vanditmars: http://home.istar.ca/~dvandit/turbocharger.htm

Another possible explanation is that you may have a clogged cat. The downpipe has been known to crumble and melt inside, blocking flow.

Sorry to be harsh, and I don't mean for this response to be a flame. Read the Common Sense thread to see some of the sentiment that inspired the content of my response. I definitely welcome new owners and I remember when I knew almost nothing about my new car, so I don't want you to feel unwelcome. But for the sake of your fellow community members, please follow good (but admittedly uncommon)forum etiquette and search first and then use descriptive subjects if you decide a new thread is in order.
