^Agreed. Except maybe a C5 ZO6 would be closer in value to the OP's Cobra and IMO a better looking and performing car unmodified.
There's a term some friends use when a Mustang of any flavor goes by..."O-A-M" (Oh, another Mustang). Nice cars, but no one seems to care.

it's nothing wrong with owning a rx8 but in my eyes it's a downgrade, even with a singleturbo compared to an fd. the fd is meant to be a pure sports car, the rx-8 is not. nobody will talk about it in 20 years. of course you can put tons of money in every car to turn it into a rocket ... and the fd do looks way better.

The rx8 is not a bad car. Its not an ugly car but its no fd.
The fd is a pure sports car with perfect balance.
Why so the swap in the 8? Cause you want more room, carry people? Then your now decently lightweight car weighs more. So you have more power but you also have more people to hold.
If you don't carry people why even have a 4 seater? Might as well have went with a 2 seater an even lighter car.
I don't wanna start a war but having an 8 with a rew swap doesnt means you make more. 8 rollers are not much more that fd rollers. And you can find a blown 8 for like 9 grand. Swapping a rew is relatively cheap if you're mechanically inclined. So the people you're talking to with singled fd's etc actually spent more than your rew'ed 8 lol.

Completely joking. The fd's are still quietly tucked away in the garage (you'll never catch me selling my cars for a Camaro or Mustang).
They're not the "enemy car(s)" but they're just not my style, worst part is, everyone has one.. 'cept most of us here.
Someone else said this in this thread and I agree, I dont want to blend in with a Mustang.. they're just ugly (inside and out).

I sold the FD to try something new. All of you guys saying nobody cares if they see a Mustang don't get why I bought the car. I did it for me, I didn't buy a new car to impress anyone. I wanted to try something new. The Cobra is exponentially more comfortable than the 7, runs 8 days a week, and makes 600 ft/lbs of torque just about at idle. What's not to like? Sorry I'm not swinging on the gold flaked RX7...I love them which is why I'm considering getting another one, but I wanted to see another side of racing...

This.
Supras aren't even close to how bad their market is compared to fd's.
Look at their values still for gods sake. Some people want to sell their na-t, not even a real tt with over 150k chassis miles for 25k etc. And the reason why it sells because people buy them even though in many eyes, that's prob worth 17-18 at best.
Supras are more we'll kept. The owners are very meticulous and very tedious when it comes with anything associated with the car.

Which is fine by me!

When I dd my 7 it drove 7 days a week no problem for years until a coolant seal went. Even after a rebuilt I dd.. But now I don't dd as much, maybe 1-2 times a week, only because I can use the family car now. No fear here, I'd still dd if I could afford the gas

People dont like our cars because of the bad reputation it developed. The engine is not perfect. Its a small inefficient engine that creates a lot of heat. Its a fragile design. Works awesome when working and with the right tuning, maintenance and care of course but a lot of car people want dummy proof things, a "set it and forget it" type of deal. Which is why the rotary crowd are in a small group of its own. Only some will tolerate that type of relationship.
That said, the 2JZ is a MONSTER. No ifs ands or buts. The forged internal engine is near bulletproof. Capable of withstanding a constant beating, even double or triple its stock hp rating. And its a toyota so you know its reliable.

I'm glad a few of you can dd a 7, but I put about 6k miles on my car the 3 years I had it. Didn't exactly have a pleasant experience as far as that goes. Maybe I'm just a glutton for pain lol

Do what you want to do. Terminator or FD 2 different breeds, which both are my favorites. cobra has a V8 and with a KB its sounds sick and its the best handling stang with its irs nice interior and newer. FD handles like no ones business doesn't have the power on tap like the cobra i also like the interior of the FD. i have driven both cars and depending on my situation thats what car i would buy. want power by the cobra it can handle all the power you throw at it and is cheaper to maintain. want something different buy the FD cost more to maintain but people will look at a FD before a cobra.

sadly, the year you picked is one of my least favorite styles...
personally, I would like to trade my car in for a lotus elise but I have a gut feeling it will be just as bad a money pit as the mazda

Look. I have the answer to this. FD LS3 swap with cam/heads/exhaust upgrades. Upgrade the rear and and that thing will put the biggest smile on your face I bet you could get close to 450 whp and still be very streetable. Bigger cam and more extreme **** you could be even more. The car will still be balanced, just a lot meaner. Just sayin
I mean... I went to an autocross last Sunday with my LS1 swapped car, and I got so many people asking questions about it. Lots of older guys, this was a Porsche event, and the best thing was that they all knew the car, they instantly recognized it because of the look.
"I remember when that car came out, it was great"
"Mazda actually put a bunch of those out at Willow Springs to test drive, it was an amazing handling car"
"I heard they blow up a lot"
"I heard they have fuel starvation in sweepers"
"I can't believe you put a v8 in that thing, it must scare the crap out of you"
"You never see these around anymore. I haven't seen one in years"
"I drove one in 93 when they came out and wanted to buy one. So expensive for me at the time though!"
"Wow it's so pretty" (and my car has f'd up paint)
"Excuse me sir, is that a viper" (lol, little kid, I don't have any Mazda badges on the car so it confuses everyone)
"You need massive tires." (lol my instructors the last two times I was out autocrossing)
I love FDs! Plus v8s

Lol nice story mike.
Any engine that makes a lot of power in a superlight body like the fd will be fun.
With the ls, too too easy to break 400. You don't need to turbo it. Unless you want 600 without breaking a sweat?
600 hp in an fd is immensely fast. Prob too much for an average driver. Then again when I go to car shows, there's always a kid with an 800rwhp supra or something. If he's still alive he must a decent driver.
