Wink so where do you buy your nipples from?

Well seeing as the only source for vacuum nipples around this area are auto zone and pepboys I have no choice but to use these sources.
I'm sure other people know what I mean when I say these places offer less then desirable parts. The vac. nipples they supply crack over time.
I'm looking for something with a little better quality, that will hold up to heat a bit better.

McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com) has some VERY nice vacuum caps. I think they're EPDM rubber, and can withstand the heat. A bag of them is like $5 or something way cheap. I've tested them myself and they seem to hold up great.

You need 1/8" for most of the small vacuum fittings and 1/4" for the larger fittings.

Dale,
That was going to be my first choice, but I couldn't find them. I wasn't sure of the technical name for the caps. Do you have a part number?

Thanks,
Dan

Just use the AutoZone ones and line the inside with a little RTV. That will help protect it over time. I have some on the car that have been there for over 4 years without any problems.

great thanks, I'll check it out. Mahjik, I've done that a few times as well. I figure if I can get some good caps then I won't have to use the sealant.

I would still some sealant as you never know what will be misting through the air and coming in contact with the stopper.

Maybe we are talking about different things? Page 3547 has 'Caps and Plugs' for me.

Try searching for this part number, it should bring you to the right page.

*edit* Page 3547 has both high-temp silicone caps and EPDM rubber caps.
