so my FD is sold...
so my FD is sold...
Yup, i'm sort of sad that my FD is going to be gone in a few weeks. I'm getting $12000 for an automatic, 81111 miles and counting. Everything engine wise works great except the coolant lines. I think the turbo coolant hose is leaking, since i could smell it from the engine bay but i can't see any leaks coming from the bottom.
Here's the story, so there were two buyers that wanted my car. A) a 16 year old that didn't know jack **** about RX-7s and B) my co-workers dad who used to own a FD wants to buy another one and works on cars.
I questioned the 16 year old a lot about the car whether or not he knows anything about this car. Simple things like: "DO you know how a rotary engine works?" His reply: "Yeah somewhat I need to read more up on it." :P.
He claimed he had 6g's to lay down right away and the rest to pull out on a loan. But when I gave him a test ride (there's no way in hell i'm letting this guy drive the car, since this would be his first car) he said that he actually only had $4g's and didn't know what happened to the other $2g's. Ok this guy makes me skeptical so i told him everything that was "bad" or unreliable about the car to make him change his mind. I told him about the leaking coolant, how 80000 is one of the key points in a rotary's lifetime where it might need a rebuild etc. I asked him what he was driving at the moment, and he said his mom's cadillac, I told him that would be a huge jump from cadillac to FD, and he said he'd be taking it easy for the first couple weeks.... man......................... i so didn't want to sell it to him, even though he would have the money up front a little quicker.
As for the other buyer (co-workers dad, and my co-worker), they want to put money down and pay the rest off by the end of may, but with the car still in my posession until full payment is made. I guess they're going to be making it into a project car for my co-worker. They already have plans to convert it into a stick, man am I jealous, i wish my dad was like that.
Well, it's evident where this car is going, it's going to buyer B). At least they live nearby, I can check out the progress that I was never able to achieve with the car since i have PCS disease (poor college student). Looks like it's back to the daily driver saturn! In replacement of the FD i'm going back to street bikes to save on gas, a zx-10r, not as cool as the FD but at least i'll be saving gas and don't have to worry about coolant problems.
To wrap it up, thanks guys for your help on the forums and in person to the local guys, and this definitely isn't going to be the last time I'll own an FD, after I get my nursing degree (yes, ******* Focker style) I'll actually own another FD preferably 5sp, that I can afford, rather than own but can't afford, it truly makes a difference, and I should've listened to you guys about the extra money required to own an FD, I've been struggling financially mostly because of my commute to and from school from the gas, good thing i live with my parents. At the same time I'm sad to see it go, but happy knowing it's going to be built into a great car.
Thanks!

haha, that would've been hilarious. "um yeah dude, i can't sell you the car because it says right here on my moron radar, that you're pretty much off the scale" you're never to young to own the car you want, if he was 16 and extremely knowledgable about it and knew what he was getting into to, then definitely, he'd be considered

well the next car i'll get is definitely going to be another FD. but right now the next thing i'm going to be getting is another bike, i originally was going to get another kawi ninja after i sold my first ninja and wanted to move up to a zx-10r before i got the FD. my parents wanted me to get rid of the bike because my tire popped on the freeway and i almost crashed, which is why they opted or directed me to stay safe and move my hobbies to cars like i originally wanted to. i found out it was too expensive.
Quite hatin on 16yr old FD owners! I did exactly what this kid is tryin to do, I was 16, i had 6g's down and financed the rest. I didn’t know **** about the car when I bought it and I didn't **** the car up, and now I am 20. We all have to start somewhere. God Damn Old People Forum

. I had a full time job and went to school and still managed to graduate from high school as a junior.

I could say that if this car was the kids first car EVER, then it would be a different story. But I don’t think it is. I guess I was also more responsible at 16 then most people are at lets say 33
