I was attempting to seal off the this port with a piece of cloth and didn't realise that the port had something sitting in it! Doh! Can someone please tell me what this clip thing is, and what its purpose? I can't find it anywhere in the online manuals I've been looking at.

Is it possible that one of the fuel injector diffusers that sit underneath the primary fuel injs broke? They are plastic and tend to get very brittle.....they are circled shaped at the top, then extend straight down and end on a 45 degree angle.

diffusers

Thanks Goodfella. But why did Mazda put 'plastic' diffusers in there? It would be much easier to drag out metal ones with a magnet! Maybe I should use a vacuum cleaner to clear out the debris...

If any bits are left, what will they do to the rotor tips and housings? I hadn't planned on rebuilding the engine yet.

Thanks,

Adrian

Haha!

That is a very funny statement on this forum.

I wonder how many times that has been thought by an rx7 owner...

(Good to hear you got the bolt out...I typically say something like wouldnt it suck if a bolt fell in there and my buddy will put a towel in).

A vacuum cleaner is a good idea. Remove what is left of the broken one (assuming this is what happened) and replace with a new diffuser and rubber grommet.

do not want to start a new thread...

so REVIVE!!!

One of the fuel diffusers on the secondary rail broke... and I can only get part of it out, (think the other bits when into chamber)

I know the best way is remove everything (turbos, LIM etc..) since I'm RHD thats a huge PITA.... without pulling the engine...

do you guys think the little diffuser will damage anything internally (say if I hand spun it around to a few time to get it out into the exhaust so it can melt... or should I just stop moaning/bitching and get it out.... with probably an engine pull, Since doing anything on that side sucks while in the car... Plugs are easy though :P

thanks.

Break out the high powered shop vac and duct tape. Tape all but one intake port and place the vac in that runner to try and suck out whatever may be in there. Repeat with each of the 4.

Cross your fingers while doing this procedure.

I got access to some kind of tiny camera tomorrow (maybe fiber?) , so I'm gonna take a look down the runners and see what's up.
The reason the diffuser broke is I was (or thought) gentally fishing in the intake runner for my AIT that went missing while I was changing it... (I took my new one with attached pigtail, and it fits down the runners) I don't have a fricking clue where it went, but it fell, and I got a little pissy when it happened..

It's the only fricking time I have never covered or filled the intakes with something... And the bastard AIT might have fallen into one... What a day that was... Lol

Thanks for the suggestion, once I know whats there for 'able to be sucked up pieces' I'm gonna get the **** outta there....

A magnetic parts tray is the next best thing to have after you put the towel in.
