The materials for the color change from red to blue is 800,the paint was the most expensive though cause it is candy.
whoa whoa can you do that, i always thought no one ever painted cf hoods because its a different texture and it wouldn't match or something, but i am a dumbass so maybe im wrong,
the only reason i wouldn't paint was if i wanted to match the wing... but other than that im with martini on this

Yeah, looks like all the pieces of ++++++++'s car.
Oh, for the record, I think you should paint the hood too.

So that's what blue candy looks like? I guess it does kinda look like blue Blowpops. It looks like you're doing a good job and might I say it's "refreshing" to see another C-West kit.

Oh and about painting the CF hood ... I agree with my boy martini that it should be painted. The actual only reason people in street cars don't paint CF hoods is to "look cool" or show off how much they spent on the hood, in this case saving about 10lbs of weight. It really has nothing to do with texture. No one has ever had a problem with the paint texture on a McLauren F1, now have they?
TOP SECRET - GOOD JOB!
Do you have pics of the chassis being painted? How many coats are you doing of the base color and of the clear? My biggest worry is stripping the original paint and primer. Chemically (which can lead to problems if not fully cleaned up) or using a 'grinder' (spend more time refinishing scuff marks, etc)?
I've been thinking of doing mine myself, as that I can really use that money saved towards more mods, hehe. Thanks for the inspiration!

looks great topsecret. I am also going to paint my car myself this winter. My situation is a little bit different though due to the fact that i work at an Autobody shop, so i have experience in the process. Texture of the carbon fiber hood is not a problem. you can paint right over that bad boy. which i would do if i were you. the carbon fiber hood is kinda out of place and will attract too much attention away from the lines and color of the car. just my personal opinion. either way though it will look great. congradulations.

Im sure that he painted the panels at the same time. At least i hope he did. It is important to spray everything at the same time, with the same gun, same air pressure, same air temp/humidity. You spray your base coat evenly until the pieces are fully covered...then spray your clear. You dont paint a door, go play with yourself, come back and paint the fender.
TOPSECRET....what kind of paint did you use? PPG? Thanks
