smoothing y-pipe...

I want to know if anyone has ever smoothed out the y-pipe for the turbos? I want to do this to clean out unused fittings/nipples as I’m running full non-seq. I’m going to move my BOV to the intercooler piping. So that leaves me with only 2 nipples that I need. The reason I want to do this is so I don't have to worry about the plugs I got installed popping when I'm running 13psi and to clean up a bit.

Don't see any reason you couldn't - you could cut all the extra stuff off and weld the holes shut. Actually, on my old TurboII, there were a number of intake manifold nipples I didn't need any more (emissions related) that I cut off and had welded shut. Beats the heck out of a cheap rubber vacuum cap .

I have done several with and with out new bov flanges, removing the small nipples or moving them .Putting flanges on top with 5 bolts that replace the rubber connection .All can be done ,there are pictures on the forum .If you do not weld find a good welder and do the hand work the way you want it then let the welder do his thing ,then you smooth the welds and polish it out .

Sorry for not explaining, but I'm in a boat in the middle of nowhere. Internet is VERY slow out here. It takes almost 30 min to get the home page to come up. Can you think how long it will take me to do a search? Anyways Thanks for finding that thread, I thought I saw it a while back.

Now need to contact Garlfinkle to give me a quote.

I bought my car from beaufort! I took the greyhound there and then drove the car back to florida. I really liked the town, looked like a bunch of very good normal people.

When did you buy it? I been "living" in Beaufort for 1 1/2 years (well be there 3 moths actually) I only heard of another FD there that is black but never seen it. Is a nice town. The only thing I don't like is that I have to drive 2 hours to go anywhere so I can get some stuff. The only thing I really like about it is the fishing is awesome.

now my question is, should I get it polished or powder coated chrome? I already got the UIM smooth out but not polished. I got tired of working on it and I needed the car finish so I could move it from the grage so it just got painted.
