NY Smoke on hard acceleration

when i dive my car normaly it runs fine no problems no visible smoke
engine feels strong as ever...

i did couple of hard puls on the high way 4th gear at WOT at full boost 12psi
i get smoke coming out

i run a full 3" exhaoust no cats

and water injection starts at 4psi fully open at 12psi

i let off and smoke goes away
rev it couple of times as i am rolling in "N" and goes away faster

i know that Water-methanol injection also acts like a steam cleaner in the combustion chamber preventing carbon build-up... so could it be working that well

or its because i got straight pipe and running rich

I'm running a straight exhaust on my twins and since I'm really rich I see a good amount of smoke from WOT at times.

Is the car cutting out or does it accelerate smoothly? What is you oil pressure like at idle, cruise, WOT?

Are you talking a "puff" at turbo transition or at high RPM shift? If you do a few runs back to back, does it diminish or disappear?

You could be rich, or just be blowing out the carbon.

accelerate smoothly no oil presure gauge cant tell
are you thinking oil control ring
i do not burn significant amount of oil

no mising oil or leaking....intercooler pips are dry way les oil consumption then when it was stock...

puff, and huge flames all the time at night its like i am putting on fireworks

i am also thinking that it just running rich, or just be blowing out the carbon - as car sits most of the time

i got 10afr at idle -5th gear 15-16afr under vacuum cruising around 65-70 mph - at boost car gets back down to 10afr

It could also be a PCV problem. Oil smoke, oil in intake, etc., can be symptoms of that, also. How do you have that hooked up?

I get some smoke when hard on the throttle after easy crusing for an extended period. I think that's normal, just blowing off the rotors (I also pre-mix). When you stay in the throttle repeatedly, it should go away or greatly diminish.

Why'd you feel the need to take time out of your day to post that? Why post if you have nothing at all to contribute? The guys user name is SerbRX7, did you really think English was his first language smart guy?

Anyways, my car smokes a bit too when shifting high up in the revs. It may be the tune is too rich.

What color is the smoke, that will make things much easier to diagnose.

Some amount of oil in the intercooler piping is normal. I would suggest before jumping into pulling and replacing/rebuilding the turbo that you have the engine re-tuned by a knowledgeable rotary tuner first to see if it is a rich condition. If that does not fix the problem, then you may consider the turbo. Way too early for the turbo seals to be failing, however.

Hey Serb i told you that you need a good tune...What is happening is that your car is running real rich so when your on full boost, its the cloud of smoke from your exhaust. Who tune your car, trust me there is no rotary tuner in Rochester. Don't bring it to the guys at EMS Motor sport. Also If you say that RX7store tune it, did you bring your car to there shop. Sending your ecu and telling them what mod you have doesn't work. If you want I could set you up something here at T N R....Call me or text me when you could come down for a few hours...You could come down early Saturday and leave Saturday afternoon or Sunday Morning...Let me know..

If it's just a puff, and/or flames, it's probably not oil, it's fuel... as in blowing carbon and/or lighting unburned fuel rather than oil.

Get thee to a tunery.

Some grey smoke (fuel) under hard throttle seems common. Most cars are tuned for low 11s AFR under boost which is still incredibly rich by most standards.

grey/black = fuel
white = coolant
blue = oil

also low 11 afr at wot is about par for boosted vehicles now. but a 10 at idle is crazy rich, mine would idle in the high 11s and you could still see the grey smoke from the unburnt fuel.
