smoke comming from turbos/under hood

whats up guys? I have smoke comming from my turbo area under the hood. No smoke comes out from the exhaust and the turbos still spool fine and make great power. I kind of think it is oil leaking from the cracks in the exhaust manifold and burning once on the outside. Anyone think they know what it is and what I should do about it. Money is slightly tight right now so I can't afford to go out and buy new turbos.

What color is the smoke and does it smell like burnt oil or antifreeze? If the smoke is grey, it might be oil burning in the turbo, which is OK unless there is A LOT of smoke coming out all the time. My does that once in a while when I'm at WOT. If the smoke is white, it's antifreeze and you might want to check the coolant lines to the turbos. If you've never changed them before, change them. I changed mine at 73K miles. A hose burst in my garage. Don't let it happen to you. The parts are cheap---about ten bucks for both hoses if you order from mazdaformance or mazdatrix. It's a pain in the *** though. Took me about seven hours. I've never done it and never really worked that deeply into my engine bay. You could probably do it in three hours or less.

It could be the exhaust manifold leaking or more likely one of the oil hoses to the turbos such as the oil return line. If it's only doing it once in a while, the hose may just need to be pushed in and the hose clamp adjusted. However, if you are there, you might as well change the hoses.

An exhaust leak perhaps.... With the motor running can you identify the source. I've had a problem with the DP to manifold connection before.

Everything you guys said was good news to my ears. I was anticipating..."go buy new turbos!"
IM4u, about your turbos, I still might be needing them so I'll keep you in mind. They are still in pretty decent shape, RIGHT?
