SMIC with single turbo?

Are there any SMICs out there that will support around 400HP and also allow enough space for a decent size single turbo? What SMICs have the best flow and cooling provided you have a good duct going to it?

At this point youre looking at the M2/ASP large which will do fine for that application. But; frankly, if you can swing a single youd do well to go get yourself a V-mount. It also gives you a lot more overhead when you get the urge to go faster again.

I am making single turbo power levels and my M2 large hasn't missed a beat. Can't help you with the fitment issues though

I run a GT35R with a M2 Medium intercooler. I havent seen any signs of it having trouble keeping up with the cooling. I originally had thought due to the short hot pipe, and the IC location that it might, but havent found any reason/need to go V-mount of FM yet.

I think it should work just fine if you run a good SMIC such as an ASP medium or large.

I would venture a guess that the twins produce more heat than a single too.

That's good to hear - I like the current location of the stock unit and it will work well with my venting ideas. Thanks for all the feedback. Yet another project for the near future lol

I Have a vent that came with the intercooler kit.. I do notice a serious increase in intake temps if i remove it. I am not sure if it will be sold with the intercooler now or not. The kit that is on my car came from M2, and im not sure what ARP sells. I would reccomend looking into it tho.

Anyone know if Crooked Willow is still in business? I saw two of the SMIC they make in person and it was a step up from the M2 design.

I have a FMIC but if I went searching for a good SMIC I would look for the CW one.

Check out Crispy's CW IC

Just to clear up a little apparent confusion. With respect to how much horsepower an intercooler can support it doesn't really matter what style, SMIC, VMIC or FMIC, the intercooler is. All that matters is the charge flow capacity. For the most part a combination of how tall and thick the IC is, although bar and plate will have more flow for the same height and thickness compared to tube and fin. On average FMIC's are able to support the least HP because they're often pretty short and or use tube and fin.

The debate on which does what better is something that's been covered repeatedly on this board so no need to talk about it again.

As with M2, they are no longer in business.

So where can you buy a intercooler now that M2 and Crooked Willow are out. Is the ASP one still out there new somewhere? I'm looking for quality.

Yes, you can still buy ASP intercoolers. ASP made the SMIC's for M2 back in the day.

The M2 and ASP SMIC's are practiacally the same minus whatever minor changes have been made through the years.

-edit-

Also recently Kevin T. Wyum (manufacturer of ASP IC's) has handed over production to Damian on the forum. Here's the thread concerning that topic:
